Chapter 18 : Mother

Kyoka POV

Mother!

I stood up and ran towards her.

"Mother!" I cried and saw her turn and smile right before I crashed into her with a huge hug.

"Mother please help me! I don't know what to do!" I sobbed.

"Oh Kyoka..." She lifted my head and wiped my tears away. "I believe you can do all things." She smiled. "But mother... they want to hurt Muzan! I can't go back! I can't do this!" I cried.

"Now you listen here, young lady!" She pulled away from the hug and placed her hands on her hips. "No daughter of mine will ever quit just because things get hard!" She said firmly. "Do you truly love Muzan?" She asked. "Yes," I mumbled like a child. "Then you will never give up on him! Not now, not ever!" She huffed. "You may be with someone else, but always keep Muzan in your heart. I believe in you, my dear." She smiled and pulled me into a hug.

"Thank you, mama." I began to cry.

The hug felt like it lasted forever, but when I opened my eyes, Mother had disappeared, and the field had returned to normal. I wiped my tears away and began the long walk back.

-1 HOUR LATER-

I opened the gate and Kazuki crashed into me. "You're alive!" He hugged me. "Where's Mio?" I pulled away from the hug and frantically looked around for her. "She's being cared for at the Butterfly Mansion. By a Hashira." He quickly added. "Is she okay? Where is she?" I need to see her!" I choked back a sob. "Relax, come on, I'll take you to her." He grabbed my hand and led me back the way I came.

-20 MINUTES LATER-

"Sissy my arm hurts" Mio groaned and turned to her side, so she faced me. "It's alright." I placed my hand on her head to make sure her temperature hadn't risen again. I glanced at Tanjiro, who was sleeping across the room. The room was filled with hospital beds and there were 2 others that I didn't recognize. One was a blond-haired boy, and another wore a boar head. "Go back to sleep Mio, it won't do you good if you stay awake," I whispered. "I want Mama." She whimpered. "Mio mama said you have to go to sleep!" I argued. "Fine!" She turned her head away from me.

"Kyoka?" I turned and saw Tanjiro standing up next to his bed. "Tanjiro." I smiled and started walking towards him. He ran towards me and embraced me in a hug.

"Ever since you disappeared, I always blamed myself. I thought you were dead." He cried. "I'm alive though. You don't need to worry any longer." I said. "The truth is... I love you!" He pulled away from the hug and wiped his tears away. "Oh Tanjiro!" I kissed him without even thinking.

Guilt rushed in immediately.

I slowly pulled away and covered my mouth.

"I shouldn't have left. This never should have happened." I backed away from Tanjiro. "Kyoka what's wrong?" Tanjiro stepped forward. "Don't come near me," I whispered. "There's just someone I really miss." Tears welled in my eyes. "Hey hey hey, please don't cry." He pulled me into a hug.

He tilted my head up towards his and kissed me. This time I didn't pull away because I knew I'd be with Muzan again one day.
