Layla's dream
Lying side by side on the grass, our eyes locked on the starry sky, I finally got what all the fuss was about. Those stars were a sight to behold, and contrary to what people often say, they didn't make me feel small in any way.
"You know, I never really got why people were so into this before. But now, I see it. It's truly beautiful," he said, his gaze turning towards me, a heartwarming smile on his lips. I couldn't help but think that he was more beautiful than the stars themselves.
"I used to think the same way. It's like, it's so amazing that it makes me want to use all these fancy words to describe it. But yeah, my vocabulary is pretty terrible for that," I confessed, giving a small shrug and acknowledging my lack of poetic talent.
He burst out laughing, "Can't argue with that one." I lightly hit his shoulder, retorting, "You're supposed to be all romantic and say, 'Oh, my love, you're the finest poet in all of history,' but no, you're being a total brat."
He turned towards me, propping his elbow on the ground and resting his head on his palm as he looked at me. "You know what makes this even more beautiful? The fact that you're right here with me," he said, his gaze so intense that it sent a rush of warmth to my cheeks, making them turn red.
Where did the sudden surge of romance come from? He was full of surprises.
His compliments had a way of making me feel special.
I mirrored his gesture, propping my elbow and resting my head on my palm before leaning in to plant a gentle kiss on the tip of his nose. "Well, obviously, darling, I have a knack for making everything better," I quipped, a grin on my face. Despite my attempt at nonchalance, I found myself basking in the warm, fuzzy feeling that his words had ignited in me.
Oh, come on. I was a woman who was an absolute sucker for guys like him. Actually, scratch that, I was a sucker only for him. Could you blame me, though?
He chuckled warmly, his eyes filled with affection. "No doubt about it, you're my personal 'make-everything-better' expert," he said, inching closer to me.
Before I could even process what was happening, his arm swooped around my waist, pulling me in as if he intended to merge us into one. I let out an exaggerated gasp and smacked his chest.
"Whoa there, Mr. Clingy, people are watching," I teased, laughing while attempting to break free. My escape artist skills, however, were clearly no match for his firm grip.
"Sorry, but I can't release you from your fate as my human Velcro," he replied with a grin, not giving an inch.
"There are kids around, you lame ass, and I'd rather not get the 'inappropriate PDA' glares from parents," I said, meeting his eyes with a chuckle.
The park we were in was something special. It was easily the most beautiful one I'd ever seen, with its vast space and numerous trees. The people here had a certain calmness about them, as if they cherished this place as much as we did. The best part was, it wasn't too noisy, except for some kids playing every now and then. And yes, the spot was tailor-made for stargazing, even though we were not exactly doing that at that moment.
He grinned. "Oh, don't worry. I'll make sure to keep things innocent. Wouldn't want to give any parents a reason to give us jealous glares," he replied with a suggestive wink, his tone carrying a hint of intimacy which sent a shiver down my spine.
"What's gotten into you today?" I exclaimed, my laughter bubbling up at his antics.
"Hey, I'm just as charming every day, aren't I?" he retorted, feigning exasperation and blinking his eyes innocently, his little grin giving away his game.
