Crestland is divided into two kingdoms: the South and the North. The South is known for its strong traditions, big landscapes, and a society that values strength and honor. King Hin rules the Southern Kingdom, and they're famous for having a powerful military.

On the other hand, the North is different. It values smart thinking and making political friends. My father, King Rung II, leads the Northern Kingdom. He's wise and clever, focusing on making alliances and dealing with the tricky world of politics.

As the sole heir to the Northern Kingdom, I have the responsibility to keep up our good relationships and handle the challenges that come with courtly life. The division between these two parts of Crestland is evident in different values, power struggles, and finding the right balance between tradition and smart decision-making, that is why they came up with the absurd marriage.

A hand suddenly blocked my view, holding a golden Pansies and Lace Hankie. Its delicate fabric adorned with golden yellow pansies embroidered on one corner captivated my attention.

"Don't fear the tears, they are the whispers of your heart, and I'm here to listen." He delivered an excerpted from a book he gave me to read, "Have you finished them already?" He softly ask, I stared at Lord Danai, one of Baron Chai's son. He settled down beside me.

The Chenglai family started with a clever businessman named Akom back in the day. His father earned a lot of money from smart investments and buying land. As time went on, the family kept getting richer, and they used their wealth to help the community.

Because of their success and generosity, my grandfather who was then a king, was given the title of Baron to Chenglai family. This title showed everyone that they were important in the local area. The current leader of the Chenglai is Baron Chai Chenglai, Danaisom's father. He's known for helping the community by supporting schools, events, and programs that make life better for everyone.

Even though they don't have a direct connection to the king or queen, the Chenglais are respected for their money, influence, and the good things they do for the people around them. Their story is about going from successful business people to important members of the community with a special title.

I nodded in response, accepting the hankie. With it, I wiped away the stray tears in my eyes.

"What is it this time that Her Highness did to you, My Prince?" He asked, the young baron possessed strikingly handsome features, with a chiseled jawline that accentuated his regal air. His golden skin, kissed by the sun, radiated warmth and vitality. Mesmerizing hazel eyes reflected a blend of intelligence and charisma, capturing the attention of all who crossed his path. His presence carried an innate grace, and his golden skin added a touch of radiance to his already captivating aura.

If only Danai is the one I am marrying maybe I will be happy.

I sighed, a mix of frustration and pain evident in my expression. "It's the same cycle, Danai. Expectations, rejections, traditions, and a future that seems more like a predetermined path than a choice." I paused, my gaze distant. "But this time, it feels heavier, like the weight of a crown I never wanted."

"I told you to run away with me," Danai said, flashing a million-dollar smile that instantly drew a laugh from me.

"Would you like your title to be attainted, Lord Danai? The Queen Consort will make your family's life a living hell, if that happens," I said jokingly, a playful tone accompanying the jest.

Arak chuckled, a lightness in his eyes as he played along. "Ah, the perils of a titleless life. But imagine the freedom! No more formalities, just Danaisom, commoner extraordinaire." We shared a laugh, momentarily escaping the weight of noble expectations.
