CHAPTER 02

Harrison was reading a report about their company's income in the library when he heard a knock on the wooden door. Sighing, he put the papers on the table and went to open the door.

"Sir, may tumatawag ho sa telepono." Tila natatarantang sabi ng katulong sa kaniya habang inaabot ang hawak na telepono.

And who could it be? It's freaking morning!

He looked at her with a frown, demanding an answer to his unexpressed question. But when the maid was about to say something, he raised his finger, signaling her to be quiet as the woman on the telephone spoke.

"Yes, this is Harrison Thornton speaking," he proudly said his name.

"How are you related to Mr. Herbert Thornton?" the woman on the telephone asked.

"He's my father, why? And who are you?"

"I am actually Dr. Jen from Sullivan Hospital," pakilala ng babae sa telepono. "I don't know if you have already watched the news, but your dad and his wife are actually here in the hospital."

Dahil ayaw niyang mag-isip ng negatibo, sinabihan niya ito na ipaliwanag ng maayos at kung bakit naroon ang kaniyang ama't asawa nito sa ospital.

Halos masira na ang telepono sa higpit ng kaniyang paghawak.

What the hell is his dad and his wife doing there? They're supposed to be at the airport by now!

"Sir, your parents actually got into an accident, and they just arrived here just now at the hospital. I want to ask if you could come here to see it for yourself," kalmadong sabi ng Doktora sa telepono. But Harrison knew she's just trying to be professional and not to panic.

This must not be good.

Fuck!

"I will come there immediately, please do whatever you can, and make sure they're okay," he said before hanging the phone up.

How could this happen? He thought everything was going so smoothly. Masaya naman lahat kahapon sa kasal ng kaniyang ama. Nagbiro pa nga ito na uuwian siya nito ng babae galing France kung wala pa rin siyang mahanap na girlfriend bago sila uuwi.

Tapos ito pala ang mangyayari.

Mabilis na nilipad ni Harrison ang pagitan ng silid aklatan papunta sa kaniyang sariling kwarto upang kunin ang susi ng kaniyang sasakyan.

He could become the Flash because of how fast he is. He can literally feel his adrenaline pumping.

Nang makalabas sa kwarto ay saka naman lumabas si Elijah sa kaniyang silid. Elijah looked at him in the eyes, clueless about what just happened to their parents.

And there's no way he will tell him the news; he doesn't want to be the cause of Elijah's panic.

Harrison knew how Elijah panics over small things. He's like a baby and he couldn't take any bad information because he would overreact. Or worse, collapse. So he can't just tell him that their parents got into an accident; siguradong doble ang problema kung pati si Elijah ay mawalan ng malay.

"Saan ka pupunta?" Elijah asked scratching his eyes. He probably noticed that he's in a hurry. Mukhang bagong gising si Elijah dahil sa suot nitong pajama na sobrang nipis, hulmang-hulma ang pang-upo nitong nang-aakit. How could he compliment a butt in a pajama?

Para siyang namamanyak sa nakita. Ramdam ni Harrison ang pagtigas ng kaniyang alaga habang pinipigilan ang sariling hawakan ito at hatakin papasok sa kaniyang kwarto. Gusto niya itong kantutin ng walang humpay.

Matagal na niyang pinagnanasaan ang kaniyang kinakapatid. Living under the same roof is actually not helping him ease the feeling.

"I'm going out for something important. You stay here and behave your ass off," utos niya at binigyang diin ang huling dalawang salita saka muling tumingin sa pang-upo nito.
