Rosa winced when she felt a sharp pain prick at her knee.
"For shucks sake Minho, could you at least try to be more careful." She hissed as she gripped the arm of the boy who knelt in front of her dabbing methylated spirit onto her exposed wound.
Minho held onto the girl's knee - if anything - tighter and let out a dignified huff.
"It's not my fault you weren't more careful out there." He muttered bitterly as he moved on to pick the bandage that lay beside him on the floor.
Rosa let out an exhausted sigh and ran a hand through her curly locks.
"You're being unreasonable." She spoke in frustration. "People fall over all the time. I don't see you giving any of the other gladers klunk about it."
Minho had finished wrapping the stretchy white material around her knee before looking the brown eyed girl straight in the eye.
His facial expression was stern but you could see the deep concern in them.
"You are not like the other runners." He spoke in a serious voice.
Rosa rolled her eyes. "Because I'm the only girl here?" She asked in annoyance.
Minho trailed his arms up the girls thighs, rubbing them smoothly.
"No," he spoke before moving his face closer to the girl's. His breath hit her face as he spoke. "Because you're my girl."
Minho's lips met hers and she immediately felt her
body respond, wrapping her arms around the dark haired boy's neck and pulling him closer so that that she could further explore his mouth.Minho reacted in the same way, wrapping his arms around her waist and scooting her closer to him so that he was right between her thighs.
Their kiss was short lived however because at that moment, they heard the door to Rosa's homestead slam open and in walked two farmiliar boys.
The first one groaned in disgust. "Will you get your stupid mouth off my sister, shuck face." Alby snapped.
Minho did pull away but not because he was afraid of Alby. In fact, that's one of the top things Rosa liked about Minho.
The fact that, unlike the other boys around here, he wasn't afraid of her brother.
Newt closed the door behind him but lingered by it.
He, especially, didn't seem to enjoy watching any form of PDA between the couple.
Minho got up from where he had been kneeling, leaving Rosa on the old couch she still sat on.
"Don't you slintheads knock?" Rosa seethed.
Seeing as to how the PDA was clearly over, Newt moved in closer.
"We came to check on you, Princess." He spoke the nickname he had given her long ago with humour sparkling in his eyes. "How you doing? Heard you almost got yourself killed out in the maze." Newt plopped onto Rosa's bed.
Rosa looked up to glare at Minho who now stood beside her. "I twisted my ankle, fell over and grazed my knee. No big deal. Minho just tends to exaggerate sometimes."
Alby took Minho's place kneeling before Rosa and examined her left foot.
"Don't worry Alby, I patched her up all nice and good." Minho told his friend somewhat proudly.
Alby just grunted in acknowledgement before completing his examination and getting back up.
"It's a good thing Minho got to you in time otherwise you could have been stuck out there." Alby told his little sister.
Rosa threw her hands up in frustration. "I could still walk and the gates were hardly close to closing. I would have been fine."
"What if a Griever had come by?" Alby raised a brow at her, challenging her.
Rosa realised that she had no argument for that.
If one of those bulbous creatures had appeared while she was on the ground, she would have been dead for sure. She stood up abruptly. "Okay slintheads! Enough with the worrying. I'm fine and I can still walk."
"But not run." Alby pointed out.
Rosa snapped her head to look at him.
"What do you mean? Of course I can still run." She wanted to break into a sprint right now to prove her point. Especially with the pain mostly gone from her foot.
"What I mean is that you're not going to be going back into the maze anytime soon." He instructed.
Rosa's eyes widened at her brother."What? No! You can't do that. I'm a runner! It's my job."
"You're right." Minho spoke as he came behind his girlfriend. "He can't do that but I can. As the keeper of the runners, I'm not going to let you go out there again until I know for sure that you're fine."
Rosa spun around and scowled at her boyfriend.
"What do you want me to do? Sprint around the whole flipping Glade? I'm fine and I don't need any days off." She spoke suddenly.
She knew Minho and Alby were getting ready to argue but before either of them could speak, Newt pipped up.
"Calm it Shanks. If Rosa says she's fine, she's fine but just to be sure, why don't you take tomorrow off, Princess?" Newt winked at her.
Due to her stubborn nature, she could have argued all day long with the two boys.
But Newt had always been the voice of reason among the group.
"Fine!" She spoke in defeat. "But only tomorrow." She conceded.
"Great, that's settled. Now we can avoid another griever attack." Alby muttered.
Rosa frowned at his words. "How's Ben doing?" She asked about her fellow runner who had gotten stung just days ago and was still going through 'the Changing'.
''Same as the rest. He looks like death." Newt spoke.
You could see him shudder slightly.Alby gave his sister a stern look. "And before you ask, no. No one but Newt, me and the med jacks are allowed to see him."
Rosa masked her disappointment with anger. "So I can't run, I can't visit Ben, what the klunk am I supposed to do all day?"
Newt shrugged. "The new greenie just arrived today. His name's Thomas. You can show him around our wonderful and beautiful hell."
