June 12, 2015 — Hampton's Trip
It's been a few weeks since the miscarriage. Beckett took a week off work per her doctor's orders and when she returned she explained the situation to Gates. She eventually ended up telling Lanie who told Javi who told Kevin. She asked Gates for some more time off when she couldn't stand the pity stares from the boys anymore. Her boss told her to take as much time as she needed, she would figure out the legality of her absence. When she came home with tears in her eyes, Castle didn't hesitate to put Avery in the playpen and wrap his arms around her.
He suggested they go to the Hampton's, the three of them. His mother and Alexis will join them in a few days for Father's Day, but for right now it'll just be Castle, Beckett, and Avery. She looks at the car camera where she sees her daughter is fast asleep in her car seat. She turns one next month. She can't believe it's been almost a year since she gave birth to her little angel. "What are you thinking about?" He asks from the driver seat. Although it may seem unusual for him to drive, it isn't. He always drives them to the Hampton's.
"Just our baby girl." She smiles. She hasn't smiled a lot in the last few weeks, but whenever they're talking about Avery the smile returns. "What about her?" He asks. He likes to know what she's thinking. "How big she's gotten. A year ago she fit inside my belly and now she's talking and will soon be walking." Beckett says. "I know. It's incredible isn't it? Watching them grow and become people." She nods. He'd always told her it was one of the best feelings in the world.
He also told her no one could understand it until they've experienced it. He was right. "It's extraordinary." She agrees. His hand reaches over and rests on her thigh, "It only gets better from here." He promises. She believes him. They pull into the driveway of their vacation house. Castle grabs the bags while Beckett grabs the baby. "Dada?" Avery asks. "No, its Mama. Dada is over there. See?" The baby follows her mother's finger until she spots her dad. If there's one adjective to describe their daughter it would definetly be "daddy's girl". Avery loves her Dada.
She doesn't blame her little girl. Beckett also finds Castle pretty irresistible. She follows her husband inside and sets Avery down allowing her to crawl around and explore since Rick had baby gates installed. "How about we get the little one in her bathing suit and take her out to the pool?" He asks her. She nods. Going in the pool would mean he'd see her in a bathing suit. They haven't been intimate since before the miscarriage, even though she was cleared a little over a week ago. She was scared. Sex leads to pregnancy and the last time she was pregnant, well, look at how that ended.
She knows it's irrational and with the proper precautions pregnancy is slim, but it still scares her. Upstairs, she changes her daughter into a yellow daisy bathing suit before she herself puts on a black one piece. It's a deep v-cut which she figured was revealing enough. She applies sunscreen to every inch of her daughter's body that's exposed and then carries her down to the pool where she places her in the baby float and gets in the water with her. The back door opens and her husband comes out with a smile.
"Dada!" Avery squeals. He chuckles and joins them in the water. "She's all yours." Beckett says. He lifts the baby out of the float and holds her in his arms as he walks around the water. Beckett makes herself comfortable on the steps as she watches the two of them. She never thought this would be her life: married with a baby. Didn't think it was in the cards for her until she met him. "Ask Mama to come join us." Castle says loud enough for her to hear. Avery looks over at her mother, "Mama!" She yells.
She swims her to join them. "I've been summoned." She jokes. Castle wraps an arm around her waist. She hates that she slightly stiffens. "You okay?" He asks as he starts pulling his arm away. She grabs his hand to keep it there. He shouldn't be scared to show affection to his wife. "I'm fine." She smiles. She leans in and kisses Avery's cheek making the baby laugh. She then leans up and kisses Castle's cheek. They swim around for a little while longer before Avery begins getting fussy. "I'm going to go nurse her so she'll go to sleep."
Beckett takes Avery up to the lawn chair where she lays down and slips her bathing suit down to nurse her baby. While Avery nurses to sleep, Beckett watches her husband swim laps in the pool. Once Avery is asleep, she takes her inside and slips her out of the bathing suit before putting her in a regular diaper before placing her in her crib and taking the baby monitor downstairs. Back out by the pool, she sees Castle resting on a chair. Time to make her move. She sets the baby monitor on the table before moving to straddle her husband.
"Well hello there." He says as his hands travel down to rest on her hips. He smiles. "Hi." She says it sweetly in an almost innocent tone. "What're you doing up there?" He asks. Her hands tease the edge of his swim trunks. "I was hoping we could have some Mommy and Daddy time." She tells him. He wastes no time sitting up. "You sure?" He asks her. She smiles and nods, "Yeah." He presses his lips to hers. They kiss for a few moments before he stands and lifts her in his arms before carrying her inside.
They travel up the stairs as quietly as possible to not wake their daughter before they end up in their room. "Don't want to get sunscreen on the sheets." She says. He turns on the electronic fireplace and lowers her onto the rug in front of it. He smiles before kissing her again. "I'm sorry." She whispers when they separate. His brows furrow, "For what?" "For taking this long to make love again. I know I've been distant these last few weeks," He cuts her off with a kiss. "Don't apologize. Ever. Don't apologize." He says before kissing her again.
Tears escape her eyes and cascade down her cheeks. "Don't cry, baby." He whispers as he kisses her tears away. She chuckles slightly. "It's corny to cry during sex." She says making fun of herself. He lets out a small laugh. "I don't think it's corny. I just don't like to see you cry." He tells her. She looks deep into his eyes and reaches up touch his cheek, "I love you." She whispers. He kisses her forehead, "I love you too. Always." He whispers and then they don't speak again until they join and then it's just a slew of moans and praises.
