The cityscape stretched out beneath me as I gazed through the towering windows of my office at Wayne Enterprises. At 28 years old, I had ascended to the role of CEO, managing the vast empire that was my family's legacy. The responsibilities were immense, and the weight of Gotham's future pressed heavily on my shoulders.

My travels around the world had honed my skills, shaping me into something more than just Bruce Wayne. I was becoming the symbol Gotham needed, but as I donned the corporate mask, I couldn't escape the haunting memories of a year that changed everything.

The photo on my desk spoke volumes – Selina and I at the "Haunted Grooves Dance." We were dressed as Veronica Sawyer and Jason Dean, and the innocence in our smiles belied the darkness that lurked in our future.

The dance, the laughter, and the genuine connection we shared during our college years were etched into that photograph

The dance, the laughter, and the genuine connection we shared during our college years were etched into that photograph.

As I pondered the past, a call disrupted my solitude. An unknown caller. I hesitated for a moment, then picked up the phone.

"Meet me at Gotham Airport, 5:30 pm."

The voice was familiar, yet shrouded in mystery. The call stirred a whirlwind of emotions, and a silent understanding settled between us. The past year had woven our lives together in ways neither of us anticipated, and I couldn't ignore the pull drawing me back to the shadows of Gotham.

The rain fell in a rhythmic dance on the airport's runway as I approached, spotting Selina standing there, a solitary figure in the mist. A smile played on my lips as I closed the distance, and when our eyes met, the connection between us ignited like a spark in the rain-soaked air.

"Why did you call me here?" I inquired, curiosity laced with a touch of anticipation.

Selina's gaze held a mixture of excitement and bittersweet emotion. "I received a major film role in a different country. I'm leaving, Bruce. For a year."

The words hit me like a sudden storm, and for a moment, a pang of sadness tugged at my heart. Yet, I understood the transient nature of our lives, the constant ebb, and flow of destinies intertwined.

I pulled her into a tight embrace, as if trying to anchor the moment in time. The raindrops added a symphony to our silent conversation, and the world around us blurred as we clung to each other.

As we broke apart, I couldn't help but recall a scene from "The Notebook." With a playful smile, I took her face in my hands, and in the rain-soaked solitude, our lips met in a tender, passionate kiss—a recreation of a moment that resonated with the promise of enduring love.

As Selina prepared to board the plane, we shared one final embrace. The rain continued to fall, a metaphor for the tears unshed, the unspoken words hanging in the air. I held her tightly, committing the feel of her presence to memory.

"Take care, Selina," I murmured against the softness of her hair.

She echoed the sentiment, her voice laced with the same mix of longing and determination. "You too, Bruce."

With a reluctant step backward, we released each other. She boarded the plane, and as I stood there, watching her silhouette through the rain-streaked windows, our eyes met for a final time.

The plane taxied down the runway, disappearing into the mist, leaving me alone in the rain. A smile played on my face, a blend of happiness for her opportunity and the assurance that distance couldn't sever the connection we shared.

The End.
