Felix woke up in the morning thanks to his alarm. At what point had he fallen asleep? He felt embarrassed with Hyunjin because he had obviously dozed off in the middle of the fascinating story he was telling him, and surely Hyunjin thought he had fallen asleep out of boredom, when it was quite the opposite.
The brunette got up to get ready, wanting to arrive early to talk to his boss about how he had really liked his story. Could he talk to him comfortably in the office? Or had it only been a thing of yesterday during non-working hours? felix had his doubts, so he wanted to try arriving earlier than usual, hoping to catch Hyunjin in his office.
Felix arrived at the museum 15 minutes before the start of the workday. He greeted Yuqi, as usual, and headed straight to his boss' office, knocking on the door.
— Come in,— Hyunjin's serious voice called out.
— Hello, Hyunjin, how are you?— Felix greeted with glee. — Did you sleep well?— He hesitated before asking, but perhaps it would make the conversation and greeting less formal than usual.
— Morning, Felix," Hyunjin didn't function very well in the mornings, but he had to admit that having Felix there at that moment woke him up and made him happy. -— I can say I had some rest. And you? — He couldn't help asking after recalling with a certain tenderness the events of the previous night.
— Umm... Yes, in fact, I wanted to apologize. Your story was fascinating! I was enjoying every word; my mind started to recreate all the scenes, Aphrodite crying and how roses emerged from those tears... How they turned red with Adonis' blood... I also vaguely remember that you mentioned that her son, by touching them, gave them their characteristic scent. Was it a touch or a kiss? I think... that's where I started to fall asleep. I'm sorry, but it was like... like when a mother reads a bedtime story to her child. I didn't want you to think it bored me; quite the opposite, I was delighted, and I want to know more. Thank you for sharing the story with me. I wanted to tell you this before starting to work... I... Well... I didn't want to be disrespectful and do it during working hours, and... well, yes... — Felix was all over the place, he even felt how his cheeks were starting to take on a rosy hue and his fingers were fidgetting.
— It's not disrespectful at all, — Hyunjin hastened to clarify, with a smile on his face. Maybe he enjoyed the fact that Felix liked the story, or maybe knowing that he paid so much attention to what he was saying. The director just hoped he wouldn't remember that Hyunjin had stayed on the line longer than he should have. Felix continued to surprise him and made it harder for him to think about other things. — I'm glad you liked the story; sometimes I think I talk too much and am filled with bits of information that seem useless or too romantic for the general audience,— he confessed. The pink on Felix's cheeks made him wonder what had motivated it, but he didn't have time for anything else because Felix's smile always distracted him. Focus, he thought and then his eyes got distracted by Felix's hands, noticing nail polish on his nails. — Nice color, — he added absentmindedly.
— I'm glad you told me, it's a beautiful story. In fact, if you have more stories you want to share, I'm here... or, well, just a call away. However you prefer. And, umm... color of...?— Felix asked without knowing what Hyunjin was referring to.
Hyunjin felt a flutter when Felix mentioned calling him again, a sudden rush of excitement took over him. He tried to compose himself, hoping he hadn't reacted in any way, and simply nodded with a smile. Then he clarified, — Your nails... It's not common to see people with... that color? It's not bad! On the contrary, it's... interesting, — he said. He wasn't going to say it's "nice" or "attractive." He didn't want to give another impression.
— Oh! — Felix laughed, covering his smile. — I usually, or well, almost never use nail polish. It's all because of Jisung, I think I told you about him. He really likes using nail polish, especially black, and sometimes he decorates them. I was his guinea pig the other day.— he laughed again. —I should keep an eye on how long the polish lasts or if it's of poor quality and might fall off or something like that... Honestly, I forgot I had it; thankfully, he's not listening to this, he would kill me, haha,— he laughed again, looking at his nails. — There is no policy against nail polish here at the museum, is it? — He asked, now looking at Hyunjin with some concern.
