Chapter 2: Looking For Them

(Rileys Pov)

Kohana came out with her bag and sighed. "Did you pack some clothes? Otherwise you'll be stuck in the clothes your wearing for a while." I say standing up and grabbing my bad and putting it on my back. "Yeah I did..." She says looking terrified. "Kohana...your with me so dont be scared."

We opened the front door and made sure nothing was there, we hid behind a car. "Now we need to be quiet and to not bring attention." Kohana could only just nod. We started walking towards my dad's house which was only a few blocks.

Finally we reached my dad's house, it was a tan house with a teal door. I ram up to it with Kohana closely following me from behind, and I opened the door. It was unlocked. I quickly went inside and pulled Kohana in and shut the door. I walked in and looked around. Kohana just staying in the front since she didn't want to bother me.

I quickly ran upstairs and looked everywhere for them. I went into my room and sighed and sat on my bed, hugging a stuffed animal that Ian got me for my birthday. Which was only a month ago. I put the teddy in my backpack and headed back downstairs. "Alright...there not here so let's gather some supplies shall be?" Kohana nodded and begun looking around.

I went straight to the basement where we had hunting food and guns hoping my dad left some. I looked I'm the safe and saw another pistol and a rifle. I took the rifle and put it in my bag and grabbed the pistol and went back upstairs. "Kohana..." I gave her the pistol. "You need it to stay safe...so put it in your bag." I say to her grabbing some food and getting the last drink of water I might never get again.

We then started walking out of my house. "So where to now?" We begun walking towards Ian's house. "Well maybe we should try to find another friend." Kohana nodded and said "So Ian?" I nodded and continued walking. I thought there would've been more zombies out but have only ran into a couple but we didn't want to kill them because it could draw attention.

Soon we got to Ian's street. There were so many zombies. "Holy crap Riley...we're not going to make it." Kohana started to freak out. "Kohana...we will make it I promise, we just have to run" I said pulling her up and running straight to his house with her running with me. Zombies started chasing us, Kohana was banging on his door as I pulled out my pistol and begun shooting them.

Ian then pulled open the door and dragged me and Kohana inside locking the door. "S-Shit..." I say sitting down on the ground. "Oh My God thank you so much Ian for opening the door." Kohana said. Ian nodded and looked at me, I standed up and hugged him. Almost crying, "T-They weren't there." I said in his arms. He pulled away slightly. "What do you mean they weren't there?" He said

"At my dad's house they weren't there..." I said again and Ian realized what I was looking for. My dog and my dad. Ian could only hug me again. "It's okay...I'm sure there in the town somewhere." He says to me softly, when Colin comes out and had some wood, Natalie, Thomas, and Chrissy are too. I pulled away from Ian and went straight to Natalie.

Kohana just went and sat on the couch. "So where's your family?" Kohana asked Ian. Ian shrugged, "I don't know...they left so quickly but then I got an amber alert explaining everything. "I'm sure everyone got the amber alert?" I say to everyone. They all nod. "Hey Ian...help me baracate the windows." Colin says so Ian goes to help him.

"Riley...I thought you were gone..." Natalie says to me hugging me. "Nah...I was good." I said quickly. "You sure we heard shooting outside did you get bit?" Chrissy asks. I shake my head "no...no I didn't." I say standing up and looking in my bag for something.
