If self harm was for gaining attention, we wouldn't lock ourselves in our rooms or bathrooms and do it. We wouldn't cry every time the blade made contact with our skin. We wouldn't lie numb on the floor and cry our heart out once we're done. We wouldn't cover it by wearing long sleeves or bracelets or concealers so that no one could see it.
