*Charles's POV:**

I open the door to the restaurant, and the first thing I see is her... Hazel.

Everything in me goes cold as I see her face after years of not seeing her. I see her expression turn cold when she sees me. I can't blame her; she probably hates me, and for good reason. All I can do is stand there and stare at her as she stares back at me. Mixed emotions are all I can feel. How can I live with myself after what I did to her? I look around the room for a free seat, and the only one is next to her...

"Hello? Did you two see a ghost?" I hear Max say.
"Sorry, lost myself for a moment. What were we talking about?" Hazel is the first to respond.

The atmosphere between us is thick and stiff. I hear them talk, but I don't listen.

"Well, Hazel, this is Charles. And Charles, this is Hazel." I snap back to reality as Max introduces us.
Silence is all you hear between us.
"Do you two know each other?"
"YES," we both spit out at the same time.

A wave of awkward silence washes over us. The only thing to hear is the chatter from the other tables.

---

"It is a long story," Hazel breaks the silence.
"Can tell," Max whispers under his breath.

I take a sip from a wine glass, not knowing to whom it belongs.

"Fancy seeing you here," I had to say something.
Hazel looks at me with the coldest expression I've ever received from someone. There are no emotions on her face. It's just cold.
"Save it. Don't think we're good, and don't act like it," she hisses at me.

She stands up and leaves without another word.
