Who is that girl in the mirror staring right back at me? Sometimes I find it difficult to remember that that's me. A cancer patient. A fighter. I'm fighting for my life. Funny how I'm running out of time to maintain my spot here on earth. I should be content and living my life to the fullest. Instead, I'm in this hospital room wondering what I could be doing right now if I had a normal life. Hanging out at cool places. Travelling around the world. Anything and anywhere but here. Why out of all places did I have to be here? When I wander around the hospital, I find myself staring at the patients with minor illnesses. Illnesses that are cured with such ease. I envy those people. They have the hope of living another year or more. Where's mine? I don't have that long left. In fact, I only have 4 months left to enjoy my life. It may seem like a while to any of you, but to me, when my life is slowly fading away, it only feels like a few days away.

This all started on that one day that I was merely enjoying my life like a regular girl, with Markus and Bianca. My boyfriend and my best friend.

Bianca and I dance to our hearts' content, whilst Markus and his bandmates practise one of their new songs. Every once in a while, Markus made eye contact with me and winked as he sang the sweetest parts of the song.

"Markus is totally dedicating this part to you," Bianca gushes.

"Oh shush, he's only teasing me," I respond.

"You two are like the cutest couple ever!"

"Say it any louder and the neighbours will hear," I joke.

The boys finish playing and Markus walks up to me, planting a tender kiss on my lips. I hear Bianca awing and I playfully punch her arm. She giggles in response.

"Did you like the song?" Markus asks, hope gleaming in his eyes.

"When do I not like your music?" I respond, a sweet smile playing on my lips.

"It was awetastic!" Bianca beams. Awesome and fantastic. Always making up those random words, Bianca.

"Always the cheerful one, Bia." Markus grabs hold of her and ruffles up her hair, whilst she shouts in protest.

"Let her go before the neighbours report a killing here." I chuckle wholeheartedly.

"Bianca, are you free tonight?" Josh, the drummer, asks confidently.

"Yeah, but not for you."

The rest of the guys howl in laughter.

"Rejection hurts, my friend," Brad, the bassist, states as he slings an arm over Josh's shoulders.

"She's playing hard to get," I whisper to Josh and Brad. "Don't get your hopes up."

"You're giving him false hopes, Ki," Brad jokes.

"Don't be mean." I slap him across the head playfully.

My phone begins to buzz in my back pocket. I fetch it out and check the message my mother has just sent me.

From: Mumma <3
The doctors called. They have the results. We need to go in 20 minutes. Come home now x

To: Mumma <3
Be home soon x

"I'm off home now, guys," I announce.

"Oh, already?" Bianca whines.

"Yes. Got family business to attend to."

"Stay just a little longer?" Markus pleads.

"I can't. It's important that I go home."

"Okay, babe." Markus plants a soft peck on my lips.
