Pip: So, you live with the Singhs then?
Marlene: Yes, and?
Pip: Just confused, that's all. I hope me interviewing Ravi wasn't weird. I promise I only did it for my EPQ, not any other reasons.
Marlene: (Takes a sip of her water) Why would I care if— (She pauses) Hold up, you think we're dating?
Pip: You aren't?
Marlene: No! Ew, gross, like icky gross, he's a brother to me. Fucking hell Pip, we aren't in Greek mythology. Ew. No, Ravi is a brother to me. Besides, he isn't exactly my type.
Pip: Right, sorry, anyways, how long have you been living with him?
Marlene: (Sigh) Isn't this supposed to be about your EPQ or whatever? Didn't know your EPQ was on familial estrangement?
Pip: (Laughs) Yeah, sorry, sometimes I get sidetracked. Anyways, how long have you lived with them?
Marlene: (Scoff) Don't act like you don't know. (Sigh) Sorry, I've lived with them since I was sixteen. So, three years now.
Pip: Were you close with Ravi beforehand?
Marlene: (Hums)
Pip: Did you ever meet Sal?
Marlene: Yeah... he was cool, I knew him even before I knew Ravi. It was actually because of him that I knew Rav.
[At this point in the interview, Marlene was smiling while looking down at her feet. It easily could've been since she's best friends (I presume) with Ravi, but I think it was more about Sal.]
Pip: From your brother, Max, right? They were friends, yeah?
Marlene: [Nodding, sitting upright] Close, though I always did wonder how Sal ended up with Max of all people.
[Note to self: ask Marlene what she meant by this at another time.]
[Further note to self: Marlene seemed uncomfortable at the mention of Max. Rumours did go around that she left home because of something related to him. Though I am unsure.]
