The girl awoke in a very small room.
The walls were made of dirt and rock.
She was sitting in a bed made of dead grass and leaves.
She wondered for a moment about how she got there, but decided she didn’t care, as long as she was away from the village.
The girl tried to get up, her head spinning.
She supported herself against the wall with her arm and slowly made her way to the small door at the end of the room.
The next room was only just bigger than the last, yet somehow it still made enough room for three tables, five wooden stools, and a small cauldron.
The largest table stood at the center of the room, on top lay several crumpled-up papers, acorn tops, flower stems, and a large map of the entire Anovian Kingdom.
The girl was shocked as to how something so large could be layed out so neatly.
She shifted her view towards the table at the back of the room.
This table was covered head to toe with plants.
Bright purple blue bells hung from a large fern.
An enormous pale rose speckled with thorns grew from the center of the foliage.
The girl was intrigued.
She cautiously inched closer to the table.
“Oh, you’re awake” spoke a sudden voice from behind the girl.
She spun around to see the creature standing in the doorway to another room.
She was holding a bowl full of some sort of liquid.
“I thought it would take a lot longer ‘till you got up” the creature continued.
The girl watched in silence as the creature made her way toward the table in the center of the room.
She cleared a spot on the table and set down the bowl of liquid then gestured for the girl to sit down.
The girl hesitantly strode over to where the creature was standing and sat down on one of the stools sitting around the table.
“You had a pretty nasty fall back there” said the creature in a calming tone.
The girl stayed quiet.
“What were you doing in that tree anyway?” asked the creature curiously.
Again, the girl stayed quiet and stared at the liquid in the bowl.
“Not a talker, huh?” said the creature.
“Hide” whispered the girl.
“What?”
“Hide” the girl repeated.
“What are you hiding from?” asked the creature.
The girl struggled with her words, she had never had a conversation this long before.
“Trouble” she managed, cautiously dipping a spoon into the liquid in the bowl.
“Trouble?” repeated the creature "what kind of trouble?”
The girl froze and stared before quietly saying “bad”
“Are you in trouble?” asked the creature.
The girl nodded.
The creature seemed confused, “why are you in trouble?” she asked softly.
The girl looked away.
Eventually, she looked up into the creatures eyes and said “witch..."
“I see…” said the creature quietly.
“You know, I’ve never met a someone like you before, I don’t exactly get out much” she giggled.
The girl didn’t understand.
She lifted her spoon from the bowl and sniffed at the strange liquid, her stomach rumbled.
“Don’t worry, I didn’t poison it or anything” the creature joked.
The girl stared at her spoon, then slowly, she moved it toward her mouth.
The moment the strange liquid touched her tongue, her eyes lit up.
She had never tasted anything so delicious in her entire life.
She swiftly dropped her spoon and drank directly from the bowl.
The creature snickered.
The girl froze and looked at the creature sheepishly.
She set the bowl on the table and stared quietly.
Suddenly, the creature burst out laughing.
The girl was puzzled.
“You’ve got a little mustache!” the creature snorted.
The girl touched her upper lip, and sure enough, there was a small line of the liquid.
The girl blushed.
“Here, let me help”
The creature walked towards the girl with a small cloth.
She kneeled down in front of the girl, reached out her arms, held the girl’s cheek and began to gently wipe off the liquid.
The girl could feel her face turning red.
The creatures hands were soft and gentle.
Her toxic green eyes seemed as though they we're piercing through her.
“There we go” said the creature standing up as she noticed the girls red face.
“Are you okay?” she asked.
The girl shook herself awake and nodded.
"Good."
