Episode 1: Overture

Charlie: Once Upon A Time, there was a glowing city protected by golden gates known as "Heaven". It was ruled by beings of pure light, angles that worshiped good and shielded all from evil. Lucifer was one of these angels. He was a dreamer with fantastical ideas for all of creation, but he was seen as a troublemaker by the elders of heaven, for they felt his way of thinking was dangerous to the order of their world. So he watched as the angels began to expand the universe in their ways. From the dust of earth they created Adam and Lillith. Equals as the first of mankind, but despite this, Adam demanded control, and Lillith refused to submit to his will, she fled the garden, drawn in by her fierce independence, Lucifer found her and the two rebellious dreamers fell deeply in love. Together, they wished to share the magic of Free Will with humanity, offering the fruit of knowledge to Adam's new bride, Eve, who gladly accepted. But this gift came with a curse, from this single act of disobedience, evil found its way into earth, with it, A new realm of darkness and sin and the order that Heaven had worked to maintain was shattered, and from the cracks raised a new creature, created by both good and evil, The Paradox. For punishment for their reckless act, Heaven cast Lucifer and his love into the dark pit he had created, never allowing him to see the good that came from humanity, only the cruel and the wicked, ashamed, Lucifer lost his will to dream, but Lillith thrived, empowering demonkind with her voice and her songs, and as the numbers of hell grew, so did it's power. Threatened by this, Heaven made A truly heartless decision. That every year, they would send down an army, an extermination to ensure hell and it's sinners could never rise against them, but Lillith's hope remained. And her dream was passed down to their precious daughter and son, the princess and prince of hell.

Y/n: But that's not the full story, after Heaven banished Lucifer and Lillith, they had destroyed the creature of light and darkness that was created. With its last breath, it vowed to return and create balance between good and evil, so the world may know of what true evil looks like and how to keep on the path of good. As the creature finished its speech, Heaven too had banished it with Lucifer and his lover. As it fell into the depths and landed where Lucifer was resting, with its dwindling light, Lucifer and Lillith carried the newly born and slain creature to a grove, overflowing with life, and laid it to rest. With its remaining strength, it promised the two to help them see the light once again and anything they may create in their new domain will be protected once it rises again, whenever that may be. Since then, Hell has been waiting for the creature of Light and Dark, deemed The Paradox by Hell's rulers, to return to save them from the Exorcists. While awaiting its return, and while Lillith empowered demonkind, Lucifer created the rings we know and the cities within them, and six powerful demons to watch over their domain, along with him, we now know them as The Seven Deadly Sins.

Y/n closed the book he and his sister were reading and stood up as Charlie looked at a Black Key that was floating just above her hand.

Charlie: Don't worry, mom. We'll make you proud.

Charlie looks out the window at Pentagram City, which was in rough shape after the last extermination as Y/n walks towards the window.

Y/n: Charlie?

Charlie: Yes, Y/n?
Y/n: Do you think The Paradox is ever going to rise up?

Charlie: ...It must, right? Even if we never got to see what it was capable of, I'm sure it will have kept its promise.

Y/n: I suppose so, I guess all we can do is hope...

The door to the room opens up and Y/n and Charlie swiftly turn around.

Vaggie: Charlie?

The Key Charlie is holding turns into KeeKee, Charlie's pet cat, who scurried away.

Charlie: Aah! Oh, shit. Did you hear all that?

Vaggie: Uh, yeah, I was right here.

She points her thumb to the door as Y/n moves away from the window.
