I Was Finally Happy Why'd He Have To Mess It All Up

I now start to freak out internally. The only thing I can think to do is call Hank. I mean even when my dad was around he wasn't really a dad to me. Hank became like my dad so in any situation I need my dad I call Hank cause he's my dad. I hear him answer in his normal raspy voice by saying "Halstead what's up why are you calling me when it's like 3 in the morning". I now say in a panicked tone "something happened to Jordan and I have to drive 16hrs to get to Houston medical center". Hank now says in a worried tone "oh god please tell me she's ok". I now say "the hospital worker said she was brought in after a friend called 911 after she had called them saying she'd been raped". Hank now says "you stay where you are I'll come pick you up and I'll drive us there". I now say "I don't want to inconvenience you". He now says "it's not an inconvenience someone hurt my grand baby and I swear if I find out it's Diego I'll have him locked away". Hank then drives over to my house and picked me up. Then we started our 16Hr trip to Houston. On the way Hank asks "why don't you call Antonio and see if Diego came home from deployment before we start assuming". So that's what I did I called Antonio. He answered by saying "hey Jay what's up" and I say "is Diego back from deployment". He now says "he's on break from deployment but I'm trying my best to keep him away from anywhere Jordan could be. I now say "no offense Antonio but you did a crappy job". He now says in a shocked tone "what do you mean". I then say "me and Hank are on our way to Houston medical center". He now says worried "please tell me nothing happened to Jordan". I now say "well I can't because then I'd be lieing". He now asks worried "oh god what happened to Jordan". I now take a deep breath before I say "she was raped". Antonio now say "I'm so sorry Jay I Swear to god if it was Diego I'll do a lot worse then send him into the military. I now say "I'll let you know what I find out when I get there". I then hang up with Antonio  and then me and Hank drive the rest of the 15hrs and 45 minutes and arrive at the hospital. When we arrive we get in and I say "I'm looking for my daughter Jordan Halstead". The lady then says "you currently can't see her but you can wait with the other boy who's waiting for her over there". She then points to a boy who's pacing in the waiting room. However once we get closer to him I can tell it's Hunter. I now see the look of pure horror in his eyes and I know Hank does to. It now makes me even more worried for Jordan. I now say "Son what happened". I knew Hunter would respond better to that then his name seeing as when he moved here when he was little he was from Georgia. When he came over for dinner he had told the story. He now looks at me even more scared and says "I'm sorry sir she called, then I went there and there was so much blood". I now know this was a lot worse then I had originally anticipated. I now pull Hunter into a hug and say "son it's gonna be ok". Now that he's in the hug he just breaks down and says through the sobbing " I'm so sorry sir I should have protected her better". I can tell this is tearing him apart. I now say still hugging the sobbing boy "no son it's my fault I should have never let her move there on her own". Now as if on cue the doctor comes up to us an asks "are you the family of Jordan Halstead". I know no one else is in the waiting room but us so I know he should know it's us. So I say sarcasticly "well no duh who else do you think it would be". He now looks at me shocked and Hank puts a hand on my shoulder and says "calm yourself boy before you get us kicked out". The doctor now chuckles and says "I'm assuming your used to this huh". Hank now laughs and says "yeah unfortunately I am because lord help you if you hurt my son or his daughter". He now says "unfortunately due to hospital rules I had to ask". I now say "I know you did I'm sorry Dr". The dr then says "you're fine sir I understand I have a daughter myself". I now ask "how old if you don't mind me asking". He then says "same age as your daughter". I now say "honestly that's comforting to know". He then says "she also unfortunately went through the same thing your daughter did". I now say "I'm sorry to hear that sir". He then says "I'm sorry a man put your daughter through that but hopefully she isn't as mentally and physically damaged as my daughter was". He then took us to Jordan's room. He told us how he was the doctor who got handed the case and how he felt bad when he realized Jordan was the same age as his daughter. When we get inside the room Hunter immediately goes to the side of Jordan's bed and holds her hand. She just smiles up at him and he smiles down at her. I now  see how rough of shape Jordan's in and I must say my heart shatters. She had a black and blue eye, a split lip and a split eyebrow and that's just the damage to her face. She has both arms in slings and both her legs are in casts and sling type things holding them in the air. I also now see she has a neck brace on and a brace around her abdomen. She has an iv in one hand and she has heart monitors, an oxygen monitor and a nasal canal on. Jordan now says "I'm surprised you came dad I know it's a long drive". I now say "I'd travel around the world and back just to make sure your ok kiddo". She now smiles up at me and I smile back. I then hear her mumble "I was finally happy why'd he have to mess it all up". I now turn my attention to the doctor and ask "so what the extent of the injuries and what's the recovery gonna look like". The doctor now says "unfortunately whoever did this didn't just Rape Jordan they also beat her really bad, after a full and thorough examination I found out Jordan has one broken arm from the shoulder down to every last finger, the other arm is broken from the elbow to the wrist, one leg is broken from the hip to every last toe,while the other is broke from the hip to where the toes start,all her ribs are broken and her back was almost broken, we have a brace on her neck as a precaution". I now think "my god is Jordan lucky to be alive". He then continues by saying "as for the recovery process we're looking at say close to 9 month or more for all the breaks to heal,I'd say probably close to another 3 month of physical therapy to make sure she can do everything like before also unfortunately because of the fact she broke both legs and almost broke her back she's probably gonna have to learn to walk again". You could see Jordan get visibly upset after hearing that. I mean I don't blame her it wasn't that long ago she just had to do that . He then continues by saying "also we are looking at probably a year or more of counseling and such and I don't just mean for Jordan". I now look at the doctor confused and ask "what do you mean not just for Jordan". He now look at me and then at Hank and then back at me. He then says "you and your father will also have to go to counseling sessions". I now ask confused "but why though". He then says "I would like to not disclose that here but you and your dad will be required to attend counseling sessions by yourselfs and as a family with Jordan". I now think to my self just great but I guess as long as Jordan's gonna be ok I'll do it
