"It's Valentines Day today"
She heard the voice on the other line exclaim. She was starting to get frustrated; she wasn't and didn't have any plans to celebrate the day. She understood and was well educated on the history of it, but it wasn't her cup of tea. She slightly glanced up at the clock hung on her dark blueish-gray walls; nine forty-five.
Oh! Great, it was just fifteen minutes into the work day and was already being reminded of it being Valentines, she thought.
"Like I give a shi-"
She started, before getting cut off by a knock at her office door. She blankly stared at the opaque door; she could make out the figure of what seemed to be a tall person. She wasn't expecting anyone but decided to brush it off as one of her employees. She could hear the voice on the other line impatiently waiting for her to continue - she could make out the distinguishable sound of nails hitting the table. She sighed, not continuing her prior sentence as she walked on over to the door. Her hand held onto the long, rectangular metal doorknob, pulling at it and opening the door.
She was met with the soft brown eyes of her fiancée; the latter was holding a bouquet of flowers - unlike the hydrangeas she had gifted her at an earlier date - these were vibrant, red roses. Their aroma was strong and she could smell it as she looked into her eyes, getting lost in them as if they were a maze. Her short, dark-brown hair was tied up into a pony tail - she was dressed in formal, designer work clothes. She felt her heart pound and her stomach flip? She wasn't sure on the feeling, but she sure as hell, loved it. Her brain scrambled, trying to form a proper greeting or even a simple hello.
"H-hi?"
She choked out as her cheeks heat up. A spread of red formed on her cheeks as she looked away, unable to hold eye contact. She was soon brought back to reality when she heard the voice over her earphones; she was peeved at the breaking of her fantasies. The voice continued to ask her what was wrong, but she was too distracted by the latter to even explain what was going on at her end.
She quickly mumbled a good-bye before hanging up the call. She was then handed the flowers by her fiancée, her cheeks turned as red as the flowers as she quickly murmured a thank you before looking away and gazing out of her window. She could see buildings upon buildings upon people that appeared miniscule; due to the height her office was located at.
"I thought I'd gift you something for Valentines Day..!"
She heard her speak, the butterflies in her stomach sprung again; they were going haywire inside of her and she completely loved the fluttering in her stomach. It was an odd feeling she had never experienced with someone else; it was new to her and she was starting to grow fond of it. Maybe it was a result of never having been treated like this - it made her feel like a princess. No, a queen. Her cheeks started to cool as she found herself finally responding.
"Oh, thank you very much!"
She thanked in a soft voice and bowed her head as a sign of gratitude. Fiddling with her navy blue overcoat, becoming giddy as she looked back up into the lasses warm eyes. They were like a cup of hot cocoa on a cold winter evening, it sent invisible shivers down her spine. She was definitely starting to melt like the soft, fluffy marshmallows placed into a warm and rich cup of chocolate latte. She heard the latter clear her throat, her cheeks also flushing with a slight pink as she spoke up in a gentle and calm tone.
"Since today is... You know. So, Won-young, would you like to be my Valentine?"
