Today was Izzah’s friend’s birthday and as always, her innocent face and puppy demeanor had managed to impress her mother. She looked stunningly beautiful in a long full-sleeved majenda silk gown. Her mother asked her to wear hijab on her head like Ainy did but she wanted to keep her hair open so the debate ended with her wearing a shawl instead.

After being locked in the house for a whole week, she was going out today and all this was possible because Agha Jaan was not home. The condition of her mother's agreement was that they would be at home by 9 o’clock.

But as usual, Izzah’s chit chatting with her friend was endless, thanks to which it was now past 10. Ainy was breaking out in a cold sweat at the thought of what would happen if their father got home before them. She didn’t want to put her mother in trouble again because of her sister’s stupidity .

Ainy glared at her sister’s continuous blabbering. When she couldn’t take it anymore, she yanked Izzah by her arm and dragged her outside.

“If you are done with your gossips, take a look at the clock. It’s almost 11.” Ainy’s anxiety was now coming out in the form of anger.

When Izzah saw the time on her wrist watch, her eyes widened in shock.

Ainy was right, she didn’t realize anything while talking. Now when she realized the seriousness of the matter, she quickly bid a bye to her friend and left the party.

Now both were standing at the bus stop in the middle of the night, waiting for the cab which should have arrived half an hour ago but still there was no sign of it.

“Why are these cabs working when they have no sense of time?” Izzah was getting angry now along with the worry.

“This is all because of you. If you had not wasted your time in useless things, we would have found the cab by now.”  Ainy’s anger was not going to end soon.

“I don’t think the cab will come now.” Izzah mumbled not to make her more angry.

“What did you say?” Ainy couldn’t hear her properly.

“Nothing, I think we should not waste more time waiting for that cab. Let’s just  grab a taxi. It’s 12 already.” Izzah said and moved forward to look for a taxi. Ainy didn’t reply to her because there was no other way and all she want is to go home as soon as possible.

Izzah tried to stop a taxi by waving her hand. She did this every time a taxi passed by ,but none stopped. Perhaps they all were already reserved.

Another taxi was coming towards them and this one seemed empty but it was a little far from their side and is closer to the other side of the road. To stop this one, Izzah moved towards it without realising that she was going to the middle of the road. Ainy tried to stop her but she didn’t listen.

A scream left Ainy’s mouth when she saw a car speeding towards Izzah.

When Izzah heard Ainy’s scream, she looked back but the car was very close by then. Izzah closed her eyes in terror ready to be hit by a car.

Before Ainy could pull Izzah towards herself to save her, a person wearing black hoodie and denim jeans yanked Izzah towards himself and saved her from being hit by this vehicle.

While rescuing Izzah, he falls on the side of the footpath and got a scratch on his hand. Tiny droplets of blood began to appear from that scratch making him hissed. Izzah opened her eyes at the hiss and found herself lying on the top of some stranger. Her hands were still clutching his hoodie tightly without her knowing.

When Izzah’s eyes fell on his ethereal face, her hands loosened on his hoodie and her heart stopped beating for a second.
