Reyaansh's POV

She ran away from me.

The ache that, I felt, was subsiding by her presence returned in a more gruesome way to a point where I felt my legs giving out.

My feet stayed glued to the ground as rain showered over my face. All the efforts I have been making since I set my eyes on her and going down the drain, and it's sucking the soul out of me.

My eyes remain adhered to her figure as she runs inside the building, without looking back to me.

Somewhere inside my heart, I wish for her to turn and look at me, but my brain tells me that she will not.

I hurt her to an extent where she has to completely shut herself off from me.

“Give her time.” My father's words rung in my head and I exhale while running my hand in my hair as the droplets of water wash over my face.

The tightness in my chest returns, an imaginary hand crushes my heart, and my brain replays the precious moments I had with my love.

The loop of memories goes back to the day when I first saw her, drenched in sweat with her eyes puffed with tears, in her school dress filled with dirt. She looked like an angel to the 7-year-old me.

Suddenly, my brother's face flashed in front of my eyes and I recall the visual of his face covered in blood, I don't remember his voice and that fact still makes me want to curse myself, but I do remember what he said when he left us.

Even his face is blurry to my memory since I refused to look at any pictures of him and now the slightest memory of his face is all I get.

“Take care of my family.” At 9 years old, this was his last wish, he was born to be a king. He deserved to live. He would have been a better son, a better brother, a better person.

“Sir,” A voice called from behind and my hands immediately went to wipe my tears only to realize that I am standing in the middle of rain and my tears are already hidden. Twisting back, I see my driver.

Instead of sitting in the back seat as I am supposed to, I take the passenger seat, making my driver tense. He fidgets around the steering wheel before starting the car.

“Tumhari shadi ho gayi?” I ask the driver, whose hands still.

"You are married?"

“Haan, sahab. 2 bache bhi hai.” His voice trembles and He keeps looking ahead on the road.
