Daegu, South Korea

She was standing.

With tears in her eyes which terrorised her to come out anytime directly. Her mother's body was laying down lifelessly on her bed. Thin body, pale face, dried lips and puffed eyes. She must have cried a lot before her body picked not to remain alive anymore.

People were encircling her body, some were sitting and crying, some stood numb with shock while some stared at her with sympathetic eyes. Her mother was the only family she had but now, she was gone too. Slowly walking towards her mother's figure, she let out loud sobs.

Kim Minsoo was dead now.

Her feet stopped beside her bed, hands held her dead hands, "You promised me you won't leave," her words came out like a whisper. "You're joking, right?" Her anguished eyes scanned Minsoo's body, searching for a single hope of her active life.

But the response stayed exact. The rough reality.

Dead.

"Mumma," her voice cracked once again, loud weeps followed her sobs in between. Her world shattered. She was an orphan now. No one to rely upon. No one to give shoulders to cry on.

She was feeling lifeless. It was obvious because her mother had a big part inside her. She was attached to her the most. Minsoo was her only one. Admitting that her mother was gone wouldn't gonna be an easy thing. She had her mother beside her in every moment of her life. In every high and every low, Kim Minsoo devoted her everything to her precious daughter.

Everyone present there was staring at her. They pitied her. Although Minsoo was aged and unwell, she didn't deserve a demise like this. She had a painful death. Everyone could justify it just by looking at her body. Her struggles to save herself for her daughter were spoken by the small white pills which were scattered on the cemented floor. Her struggles to call someone for help were spoken by the landline whose speaker was hanging down.

The bright warm lights were now dimmed, the sun hid its sadness behind the clouds and the shadows gradually started shedding tears.

"Yn, we need to perform funeral rituals."

She didn't have anything to say or to do. What could she even do?

The person she adored the most was dead now. The only thing she could do was to let the people present there do whatever they wanted to. Right or wrong; doesn't matter anymore.

A few ladies changed Minsoo's clothes before she was lifted by a few males and put in a wooden casket, hands crossed on her chest. The preacher soon arrived and everyone proceeded towards the church for additional rites.

The songs were sung, prayers were articulated and hymns were descanted. She watched her mother's casket on the stage, a few feet away in front of God Christ's idol. After the rituals were done, the casket was taken to the cemetery.

The priest spoke the last of his prayers for the ending while the people encircled the area. Some of the ladies came to her, trying their best to give the sympathy that she needed. They acknowledged that their talks and their empathy were in vain.

Her tears didn't even roll down her cheeks. No sobs her lips made. She was standing emotionless, inactive and with no hope and strength.

This pain was indeed something that will remain fresh till her last moment.
