"Today was great!" I exclaimed, with a huge grin.

Soft laughter spilled from my phone in response, "That's awesome."

"How was your day?"

"It was good."

I smiled, "C'mon, tell me everything."

"It was pretty average. Nothing crazy happened," he said, laughing.

"Agh, give me something! How about a highlight?"

"Well, I met this girl named Ally. She's super nice."

"Oh?" I said, hesitantly.

"Yeah.. Anyways, I'm glad your day was good. Give me a highlight."

"Oh um, nothing crazy happened either. I also met some people," I hesitated, "There was this one kid named Oliver- Actually, nevermind."

"Ah, alright. Look, I got to go eat dinner, but I'll call you tomorrow. Kay'?"

"Yeah. Get some rest. Okay?"

"Okay," he chuckled.

"And say hi to Abby for me."

"Ally. And I will." I mentally screamed.

"..Ok, bye."

"Bye, love you."

"Love you too." I pulled my phone away from my ear, and stared at the black screen. I didn't want to be one of those possessive girlfriends who freaked out when their boyfriend brought up another girl's name. I'm not, and I won't be.

"Hey," I heard my mom call from the other side of my bedroom door, "Can I come in?"

"Sure!" I replied, turning my head as I watched my mom emerge from the other side.

"How was your day?"

"Good."

"That's good, are you hungry?"

"Yeah, I'm starving. The school lunch sucks."

She laughed, "Well c'mon. We ordered pizza with onions and pepperoni."

My eyes lit up, "Really?" If I had to choose between pizza and Jackson, I'd definitely choose pizza.

I groaned, pulling myself out of bed immediately missing the warmth from my comforter.

"Breakfast is ready!" I heard my mom call.

"Coming!" I sighed, quickly throwing on a baggy hoodie and a pair of jeans.

"Morning."

My mom tilted her head with a frown, looking at me.

"What?"

"Nothing."

"Fine," I said, sitting down at the table.

"It's just-" I resisted the urge to roll my eyes.

"It's just what?"

"Is that really an appropriate outfit to wear?"

"What do you mean?"

"It's only your second day. Try to dress a little nicer."

I rolled my eyes, "Why does it matter?"

"I'm just saying it's important to make a good first impression." I stared at her in disbelief.
