Emily settled into the quiet zone of the nearly empty train compartment, the soft glow from the overhead lights creating a calm ambiance. Armed with textbooks and notes for an upcoming exam, she found solace in the rhythmic hum of the train wheels as it rolled through the night.

Across the carriage, a solitary figure sat, almost hidden in the shadows cast by the dim light. Emily paid him no mind, engrossed in the task at hand. Yet, as the silence embraced the compartment, a subtle melody began to dance through the air, a gentle hum that echoed in the emptiness.

Then, in the blink of an eye, he vanished, leaving an empty seat where he once sat. Bewildered, Emily stood up, her eyes scanning the compartment in search of the mysterious hummer. He was nowhere to be found, leaving only the lingering echo of the haunting melody.

Returning to her seat, Emily tried to shake off the unease, convincing herself it was a trick of the mind. She delved back into the books and studying. Though the fear remained, she couldn't help but think if this encounter was merely a hallucination or if it was actually reality, it had felt so real. As she continued reading, she was interrupted by that very same melody, this time humming right into her ear...
