Kenna's P.O.V
Beepbeep beepbeep beepbeep! I heard my alarm clock go off in a distance. As I groggily opened my eyes, the realization that I had school today hit me like a ton of bricks. I moaned and smacked the button on my alarm clock as I swung my legs off the side of the bed and sat for a minute. 'Guess I have to get up now,' I thought, causing a sigh to slip from my lips. Today was my sixteenth birthday, but I was certainly planning for it to be low key. I felt my stomach rumble as I stood up so I decided to go downstairs and pour myself a bowl of cereal. When I was finished, I put my bowl and spoon in the sink and climbed the mountain of stairs reluctantly to my bathroom so I could brush my teeth and wash my face. Drying my face off, I walked to my dresser to look for clothes I could throw on for the day. I decided on a grey sweatshirt, black skinny jeans, and black combat boots with laces that matched the color of my sweatshirt. I crossed back to my bathroom and combed through my untamable, curly, chocolate brown hair and felt it best to just leave it be. Taking one last look at my face I decided against makeup, as usual, and started on my journey back down the stairs. Noticing mom and dad laughing as mom made breakfast for both of them, I smiled, "Hey mom, dad, I'm going to go pick Jasmine up before I go to school, her car's in the shop," I explained. They both murmured about being safe and loving me. I rolled my eyes jokingly and nodded as I grabbed my keys and headed out to my car,"love you guys too." As I shut the front door, a baby blue convertible that came straight from the 70's caught my eye, and I smirked as the memory of the day I achieved the beautiful car in front of me crossed my mind. It was my 15th birthday and my dad promised that as long as I worked on it with him for a whole year, his old car would be mine for when I got my license, which I have an appointment to get after school today. Cautiously I hopped into my car and inhaled the scent of memories, which helped calm down my nerves a bit. Living close to the school and having my permit, my parents trusted me to drive myself, even though I shouldn't have until today when I was to get my license. Starting the car, I thought of my closest friends, Jasmine, Zoe, and Lily, whom I met when I was 14 after I had moved to a new school. They were the first to welcome me without any questions or drama, and pulling into Jasmine's luxurious driveway, I couldn't help but think that all our dreams of "getting older" were starting to come true. "Hey girl!" Jasmine giggled, snapping me out of my thoughts. Jasmine stood with one hand on her hip, her straight black hair cascading down her back and light brown eyes staring at me mischievously. Her lavender dress and flats made the color of her eyes seem darker, and as I scrunched my eyebrows I laughed and told her to get in the car. On the way to school we blasted old music on the radio and rolled all of the windows down to feel the wind in our hair. ///////////When we got there we met Zoe and Lily. Zoe and Lily are twins, and they are completely inseparable. They both have red hair and green eyes but their faces don't look too much a like. "Hey girls!" Jasmine exclaimed and I laughed. "Heeeey!" the sisters said at the same time. I shook my head, and then heard the first bell ring. I walked to class with my three friends talking about boys and shoes behind me. 'Ew,' I thought. I don't have anything against boys, but they are gross and annoying at my school, and shoes, I like shoes, but they were talking about pink girly shoes. 'Ew, again,' I thought. After we got inside I told Jasmine, Zoe, and Lily, that I would see them in history, our second period, and the only class we all had together. I was on my way to math when I saw three people, two boys; one girl, standing outside the school. 'That's weird,' I thought, but shrugged and went to math class. The whole day was so boring I barely paid attention, and next thing I know the final bell rang and school was over. "Thank you God!!" I love you!!" I yelled. Yes, I am a real Christian, and I don't care who hates, because so are my friends. Jasmine laughed and the sisters just looked at me with a 'shut up you idiot' look on both of their faces. "I'm not ashamed," I said, and flipped my hair. That's when I got a laugh out of all of them. I smiled, but that's when I saw those three people again. 'Hmm, that is really odd, have they been here all day?' I thought. "Hey I'll be right back you guys, just wait here and talk about glitter or something," I said. "Heeeeeyyyyy," they all said defensively. I waved my hand dismissively and walked over to the group. They looked like they were looking for something; or someone. "Are you guys lost or something," I asked crossing my arms and raising my right eyebrow questioningly. They all looked at me and took me in, while I did the same. One of the boys, that was standing on the left of the girl with his arm around her, had slightly tanned skin and dark brown hair with a black beanie on, chocolate brown eyes, and a kind of model-like face. He had a little scruff on his chin and looked about 17. He wore a black hoodie with blue jeans, and timberland boots. 'I like timberlands, they look good on girls and guys,' I thought. 'Stop getting distracted!' I mentally yelled at myself. 'Oh, yeah, right,' I thought and put my attention back on the three people in front of me. I looked to the girl in the middle. She looked the complete opposite of the guy on her left. She had kind of pale skin and she had wavy bleach blonde hair, that didn't actually look bleached, bright blue eyes, and a very beautiful face. She had light brown eyeshadow and soft pink lipstick on and looked about 16. She had a light pink flowy dress on that went to her knees, and she was wearing soft pink flats that had bows on the top. When I was done looking at her I looked at the guy on her right. He had tan skin and blonde hair with deep blue eyes, and he also had a model-like face. He had scruff, but only enough that you had to be decently close to see it, and he looked almost the same age as the other guy, almost. He had a grey shirt and black jeans on, and he had black and grey converse. 'I feel like I know these people but at the same time I'm a bit intimidated by how they looked like they just came out of a modeling catalog.' After sizing me up and me doing they same with them, which took about a minute, they looked at each other, but then they all smiled kindly when they looked back at me. 'Erm, that's not creepy at all,' I thought. The girl shrugged the brown-haired guys arm off and stepped forward. He looked disappointed but played it off. "Hi, I'm Olivia," the girl said, in a soft melodic voice. "And this is Jack," she said as she gestured to the brown-haired boy. "I'm her boyfriend," he said and smiled. The girl laughed softly and nodded,"and this is my close friend, Cole," she said, as she gestured to the blonde-haired boy. "Nice to meet you, I'm Kenna," I said. "Now, are you guys lost?" I asked. The girl laughed softly, again, and shook her head no. "Then, what, or who, are you looking for?" I asked. "You," the Cole guy said. "Cole, not so forward," Olivia scolded. "Woah, what?" I asked, VERY confused. "You see, you, Kenna, are very important," she said softly. "Yeah, I mean I know I am to my friends and stuff, but how am I that to you?" I asked, and used the same look I first did when I spoke to them-arms crossed, eyebrow up. That's when she told me about me being an elemental warrior. "Ha, that's funny, me, be important, and that, be possible, funny, but what's the real reason," I asked. "That is, didn't you hear her?" Cole said. "Can you shut up?" I asked, clearly annoyed. "They're at it already," Olivia said to Jack. He nodded and she took his hand. "What the heck are you talking about?" I asked, starting to get angry. "You see, you two are opposite elements, so you are naturally going to feel more agitated toward each other quicker," Jack explained. "So, then are you two opposites?" I asked. 'Wait, Im starting to believe this crazy crap?!' 'Yep, because you know you have a deep feeling that it's true,' I countered. 'Shut up!' I thought, arguing with myself. 'Man I'm weird,' I thought before paying attention to their answer. "Yes, but earth and wind are a lot less hard-headed, stubborn, and strong as fire and water," Olivia explained. "Ugh, great, so I have to deal with her!?" Cole exclaimed, gesturing towards me. 'This dude is going to get it,' I thought. That's when the weirdest thing happened. Water completely DRENCHED this Cole guy, but the weird part, it came from my hands. "Ahhhhhh!" I yelled. "W-what the heck just happened?!" I whisper-yelled, not wanting to draw more attention to me and hoping my friends wouldn't, or didn't, notice. "You used your power out of anger towards Cole," Olivia explained in a soft voice. "Yeah, and might I just say, it really sucked on my end," Cole said and coughed up water. "Whatever, you can deal with it," I said, waving my hand dismissively at him. "Easy for you to say, it didn't happen to you," Cole said. I rolled my eyes. "So, I have to help you guys defeat these shadow warrior things after I train and learn to use and control my powers," I asked staring at my hands. "Mhmm," someone said, but I didn't catch who. "Wow," I muttered, still staring at my hands. "Your parents already know by the way," Olivia's soft voice said. "Ok," I said, figuring that that's why they always asked if anything weird happened to me, other than usual weird stuff. "But, my friends, and school," I said. "We have that covered." Olivia said. "Summer is coming up, and we will take you then, and train you, and you will say you are going to Hawaii," Jack finished. 'They can't possibly be opposites,' I thought. "Ok," I said.
*one month later-summer*
"I'm going to go train, yay," I said out loud, definitely not enthusiastic. That's when I heard a horn honk. "Ugh," I thought. When I said goodbye to my crying mom and my comforting dad, I went out to find, my favorite person, Cole. *Please oh please, note the sarcasm.* "Ugh, why do you have to take me?" I sighed. "Because, now get on," he said and tossed me a helmet. "On?" That's when I saw his motorcycle. "Yeah, you scared?" He smirked. "Heck no!!!!!! I love motorcycles!! This is the most amazing beautiful Harley I've ever seen!!!" I exclaimed. I looked at him with a kid-in-a-candy-store look. He just looked at me shocked and then laughed. "Maybe you're not so bad princess," he said, giving me a stupid nickname, and smirked. I smiled,"right back at ya hot head," I paused proud that I gave him a stupid nickname,"now let's go," I said and put my helmet on. He laughed and did the same, then got on his bike and started it. I got on and wrapped my arms around his waist. 'Six pack alert!' I thought . 'Crap! I love six-packs. Wow I'm creepy,' I thought, but shook my head and just went with it. After a few hours, we arrived, and I couldn't believe what I saw.
