"He saved your life?" Alex waited for her to shut the door before asking curiously
"Yes."
"From whom?"
"I couldn't tell." She said crisply as she turned to him after shutting the door on Damien's back.
"Athena," he exhaled at her robotic responses and searched for the appropriate question that would give a detailed answer. "Let's try this again, why did he have to save your life?"
"I was meeting with the former advisers and someone shot an arrow at me from the window."
His fists clenched and he sat upright letting the sheets fall to his waist, a more perfect sight she had never seen.
"tell me where the bastard's dead body is located so that I can dissect it into bite sizes for my dinner,"

She was surprised by his violent talk since he has always tried to be an advocate of peace. She almost felt bad for the guy who had targeted an arrow at her.
"He got away, I had to make sure Damien was treated."
"All the better I'd like to give him a message before I send him to
Beelzebub." He was about to get off the bed when she stopped him.
"Wait!"
Like a slave to the call of his mistress, his movement immediately stilled.
"You can't just get up like y-vou're naked. You can kill whomever when you're clothed."
The stutter was slight but it was there.
His enchantress, the severer of heads was shy.
"Why suddenly so bashful, it's nothing you haven't seen before." He was

referring to the first time they met.
"I wasn't looking then." Just as he thought, the best of warriors were once who did lose focus no matter the circumstances. Mad of course unless the meaning changed. She was the best warrior he had seen.
"What is the problem then this time," he smiled at her. "Are you scared you'll be tempted to look?"
"I am tempted only by things that are of significance."
His smile turned dangerous. "A different man may be offended by that remark, but I'd rather ruminate ways to put that mouth to a better use."
she stared at him as if she was going to give a retort, but she said nothing.
"So I am not the only one slaying dragons to win the damsel's heart.
Except of course in my case you are both dragon and damsel." He casually laid back on the bed and adjusted the

sheets and as his eyes caught hers he gave her a wink.
"Dragons do not exist."
"Are you sure? I am quite sure there is on standing right in front of me."
"Unless you have started seeing things, I don't have scales nor do I breathe fire." She looked like she was trying to figure out if he was simple or making a joke.
"No your skin matches the exquisiteness that can only be attributed to that of a goddess."
"My point stands I do not breathe fire."
"My burnt hand begs to differ."
"The fire wasn't from inside me. That
¡is not possible."
"That's what you think," He made sure to hold her gaze. "Have you heard of a type of fire that comes from within, the type that comes only from

a lover's youth."
"If you think for one second that the fact that you being in my bed is a result of your smart actions, you are an even bigger fool than I gave you credit for, so don't for one moment think-"
"I'm not thinking I know."
Her eyes blazed as she sent him six feet under with her gaze. But damn him it was hot as hell, the thought of bringing this powerful woman so;
much pleasure that she would be putty in his hands.
"How dare you interrupt me." She said in a menacing voice. Shit just when he thought they were past the hostilities.
"I didn't realize it was a crime in your
pack."
"Insubordination is," she went to her walking wardrobe searched with jerky movements until she pulled out a small blanket and threw it at him before turning her back on him. "Get out"

He hissed sharply as the blanket met his burnt flesh, her body twitched to turn to tend to him but she didn't, it was no matter although, things went way better than he could have predicted.
"So soon? We didn't even get to discuss vour suicide attempt."
"It was not a suicide attempt and it's not up for discussion."
"Okay then, shall we discuss you being immune to fire?" she heard him get out from under the sheets and swallowed but it was like her heart had relocated to her throat.
Only if you are ready to tell the truth about your identity." She heard him still his movements.

"If i do, you'll explain to me?"
"I'm all ears." He paused for a while no doubt wondering if it was smart to trust her.

"I didn't originally come for the alliance."
"Why did you come? Why did you try to keep me from harm's way in the footrest that day?"
"I would have save any woman from the likes of them, but I had seen you, I didn't even know where I was going I just let ... fate lead. And seeing as it led me to you, I will never doubt it again." She wasn't sure what to say or think, but she had a very strong feeling of who led him to her.
The room was quiet as he waited for her to speak. And when she didn't he \realized he may have been tricked.
«Your turn." He prompted.
"I would gladly tell whatever you want to your drawn and quartered body."
"Touché." Just then a maid announced her arrival by three thuds on the door.
"If you are still naked that is your problem." She said without turning

around and answered the door before he could reply.
"Clear this mess."
She said to the girl and made to leave the door.
"Athena-"
"It's Alpha." She corrected but turned nonetheless and saw to her relief that the blanket was now firmly wrapped around his waist.
"So you're allowed to interrupt but I'm not, a bit impartial don't you think?"
"It's not impartial when you're servant."
"Yeah that, Do you have any idea where I might Damien?"
"Yes."
"So...?"
"What?"
"Where is he"
"What do you want from him?"
"Despite the fact I would have been happier had that arrow met his heart, I owe my thanks to my fellow besotted fool."
"You'll find him in the beta's chamber."
"Auervior." He tipped an imaginary hat and headed to the door.
"It's not a competition."
He turned his head to her with a smirk.
"Oh trust me love, he can't even compare."
