"'What?"
"You heard me." Alex shook off the clean cloth the physician had placed in his arm.
Werewolves recover with speed but when they are hurt with fire it takes more time. That was why one of the worse threat given to a werewolf would be a threat of being burnt. Like Atheba's mother had been.
"you can leave." He repeated.
"I know I didn't have much of a choice when she sent me here, but I'm a doctor I can't leave you like this."
"'Leave."
"But- but your hand. The burn. The Alpha."
"My hand my choice don't you think?"
He smiled warmly at the confused man.
The man had left after that and now that he was sure she cared, he had a plan. No doubt Athena didn't expecthis hand in the same condition when he had burst into the meeting.
Funny how Damien thought he could fight him. If he used his strength a single blow would take him to his knees. It wasn't that he was feeling kind or forgiving, it wasn't time yet, and more than that he wanted Athena to be the one ton intervene on his behalf and well in some sort of way she had.
He heard a knock on the door, he wasn't sure he even wanted to answer because he knew for sure she wouldn't bother to knock, but nonetheless he answered.
"You may enter." He said loudly enough that whoever was on the other side could hear.
The talkative physician came in.
"You again."
"Without much of a choice again.
Believe me I don't want to be here. I'mnot even from this pack but she won't. let me go back until you are properly treated."
"She sent vou back?" His heart picked up its pace.
"With a note to you this time." The doctor handed him a paper similar to the one she had sent with the arrow earlier. Her crisp and bold writing said.
'An alliance with your Alpha would be difficult were I to return you to your pack a limb lesser than you came.
Stop picking fights you can't win.'
"Interesting." Alex began aimlessly moving about, reading the note over and over.
"You know you look really familiar."
'Is that so?" He answered absentmindedly and the remaining of the doctors chatter faded into the background as he pondered what to send as a response. Something that will incite another response from herHe went to the drawers and started to rummage around for some ink and paper to write. He finally found an dld stack of papers and as he turned to keep it on the table he saw the doctor on the floor by his feet ot took him a second to unblock his voice and comprehend what he was saying.
"Alpha Alexander." Shit.
"Hey, hey stop, get up." He looked around frantically to reassure himself no one had over heard anything and then went to close the door.
"Forgive me for not recognizing you sooner. I have just married into blue moon I have yet to see you in the flash only portraits of you which my wife showed me graced my eye you truly are as magnificent as they say. What'are they thinking giving you a room such as this. Only a room that rivals the Alpha's own is fit for you."1'Well see that's the problem. The only room I want to be in is hers.".
"Her roo . . . Oh! Oh! Oh! I see! I see!
Your majesty."
"Shhh! shush, no one can know my true identity."
"Of course Alpha. I'll be as silent as a rock. But if I may ask, why? You could have gone to her as Alpha and claim her as mate I have met her and she is quite fierce but surely she won't dare refuse you."
"Oh I'm not so sure about that. Besides I need to know the woman that is going to rule the pack with me."
"Oh my ... You want to make her fall in love with you don't you?"
"I want to make her realise she cannot live without me just like I can't without her, the ring I put on her is helping unveil her emotions but she still needs a little push.""Oh I see. Nothing is more biddable than a woman in love. She will have no choice but to submit."
"She will not be forced to do anything, if you blow my cover it will not bode well for you." He poked a finger in the man's chest.
"I have met this woman, if you cannot tame her and she becomes Luna, it will not bode well for the entire pack."
"Let me worry about that. Now will you be willing to help in the wooing of your new luna."
"Of course, of course. Any way I can be of service."
"First I'm going to need something to reduce the pain, going around under the sun hurts like hell,"
"Of course, of course."
"But don't treat it just yet."
"But sir, a burn of this size, your hand may-""Let's hope she doesn't let that happen.
"But how?"
"This is the part I'll need you to channel your inner actor. I need you to convince her that I'm on the brink of death if the wound isn't treated. For now I'll give you a note back to her."
'Have it heal and lose my mark of valor? Never.
And I hadn't realised Damien was a bully, to attack a man with one functioning hand. Tsk tsk. What kind of beta do you have Athena?'
The doctor returned about thirty minutes later with another paper.
"Doh't call me by name unless you" want your tongue divided in two.
Damien has a while in his chest so I'd say the playing ground was level.
Mark of valor or your arm?'The doctor came back almost immediately this time with anöther paper.
'Don't worry you can burn the paper afterwards and no one would ever know that I was bold enough to refer to you by your name.
It hardly an even playing field. I have a hole in my chest as well, the place where my heart should be but you have it under your feet. That more than this burn hurts.
Valor or arm?
You put me on the path of this decision you pick.
