IT WAS A FEW WEEKS LATER when Maddie was just wandering through the narrow streets of the Isle. She didn't have a particular place she wanted to visit, she just walked wherever she wanted until she bumped into somebody."Watch where you're going." She looked at the person she had collided with. She knew the smudged liner and the red pirate jacket very well. She had seen Harry Hook on multiple occasions in the past, but she had never spoken to him.
"I'm a pirate lassie, it's what we do and if- wait arent yeh supposed to be in Boreadon? Yer the fifth one."
"Decided to leave."
"Interesting. Come along with me and maybe Uma will find you a spot in the crew."
"Why would I do that?"
"Yer look like yer need friends, I also think that yer very interesting, lassie. You could really be a bonus to the crew."
Maddie took a moment to think about the offer. He was right, she didn't have any friends and being on your own on the isle was not particularly easy. She also thought about the fact that they wouldn't judge her for being crazy, they all had their own...unique behaviour.
"Lead the way, Harry." She decided, following the tall pirate. They walked through narrow, dark alleys which were hidden away from the Main Street.
She had never been in the part of the isle that they were in and it was pretty far away from her house. The people seemed to have respect for Harry, making way for him to walk through.
Once they had reached a restaurant, which Maddie knew was Ursulas fish and chips shop, Harry threw his sword into a basket and announced himself inside.
"Uma! I'm back and I have some interesting news!" He proclaimed.
"What is it Harry?" Uma asked, appearing out of the kitchen, holding a plate of fried fish in her hand. As soon as she saw the 'guest', she placed it onto the nearest table.
"I've found us a new crew member. I think she could be good for the crew."
"Why hello there. You're Maddeline, the hatter's daughter, aren't you?" She asked whilst coming closer and closer to the girl, a fierce spark in her eyes. The girl didn't even wait for an answer before pulling her into a small chamber.
"You're here to join the crew, right?" She continued, waiting for a nod. "Harry was right, you could be useful. You'll have to tell me a few things first though. Why did you leave Auradon?"
"I fell in love with Prince Ben. Then at a tourney game he confessed his love for Mal in front of the whole kingdom. I ran away and now I'm back here. I always thought Mal and I were kinda friends but I don't think she likes me after that stunt. Such a backstabber that one." Maddie explained, getting a bit embarrassed by Uma and her slight grin.
"Nice to hear I'm not the only person that hates Mal. We go way back. But now that you're with us, we can take our revenge." Uma laughed. "You can be real here. Embrace the crazy, be crazy, we all are. Now, let's get you a pirate outfit." Maddie's eyes lit up. Uma was right. She could let out all of her craziness. Why would she care about what the others thought?
After hours of sketching, gathering materials (totally not stealing them from the market) and sewing, the outfit was complete. They had decided on a short flowy dress which was still practical for fighting, along with a corset and a matching hat. As shoes they chose heeled boots. The whole outfit was perfect for Madeline. When Harry saw her in the outfit, he nearly fainted. He had to get a grip on Gil to regain his composure. He let out a loud whistle and smirked at the girl in front of him.
She barely acknowledged him, only looking at him when she was at the exit of the store. "Come on, Harry. Let's show the is,e the new me. We could go get a few roses from the queen of hearts. I'm sure she won't mind at all. If everything goes wrong we'll end as bowling balls." She joked, making him chuckle. He took her hand and spun her around a few times before leaving.
The world wasn't ready for the new, crazier Madeline Hatter.
