❝ if anybody hurts you, i'm going to prison for life. ❞
⇄ ◃◃ ⅠⅠ ▹▹ ↻It's been a week since the VillaReal match. We won with a score of five - two. When the referee blew the whistle, signaling the end of the game, the whole ass team came running towards the benches.
They held me and Xavi up, throwing us in the air as they celebrated the win. Critics came all over the club after it, complaining that the club over celebrated. Others found it amazingly cute.
If you don't celebrate when you win, when are you supposed to celebrate?
The team couldn't care less though. They were all happy with what their celebration. I was too, until I felt like I was going to vomit and they let me down and just celebrated around me.
And then Pedri came and held me very tightly, holding me up in his arms as he squeezed me in a hug. I laughed the whole time. I couldn't remember the last time I laughed this much.
Five whole minutes of nonstop celebration. Of course, they wished hard luck to VillaReal before celebrating on their ground.
VillaReal fans booed while Culers cheered. Even for an away game the Culers were louder. Barca really has a huge impact on the Spanish.
Now, it's a home game. I sit on the benches talking with Xavi as both teams warm up. Playing against Atletico is not an easy game and the whole team is well aware.
Last week's win is behind us, all the players and staff are two hundred percent focused on another one for today.
I convinced Xavi to go for a different line up today. A 4-2-3-1, a basically never seen at Barca in over three years.
The defense is as usual, with Cancelo, Christensen, Araujo and Kounde. Alonso is out due to injury and the rest might be subbed in later, depending on the match's on going.
For the midfield, Pedri, Gavi and Gundogan. I hesitated with Gavi, between midfield or attacking midfield for a minute, wanting to try something even more new but decided against it. Baby steps on the changements.
Besides, Pedri and Gavi are an incredible duo, on and off field between Pedri's creativity, his vision and passing ability, and Pablo's analysis ball control and passing skills, they can control the midfield with easiness.
And Ilkay is very experienced and versatile, he can contribute both defensively and offensively.
And so for the attacking, mostly youngsters with Vitor, Lamine and the not so young Felix.
Vitor is a tremendously skillful winger with the ability to create chances and score goals. Joao is more of a leader type with his scoring abilities and his dribbling.
Lamine is just exceptional honestly. For a nineteen year old boy to play like he does is amazing. He's by far one of the best attackers in the world right now. His technical ability, ball control and boldness on the field are literally out of this world.
However long I plan on staying an assistant coach over here, I plan to help Lamine rewrite history and become one of the best. Talent like that is not just given.
Anyway, this lineup utilizes the strengths of each player in their respective positions in a different way. Still balancing defensive solidity with attacking prowess.
