a lot can change in a year. especially within people. olivia extended her stay abroad while spencer focused on football. they've grown and matured into their full potential but will that be enough for their relationship? doubts and thoughts linger in their heads as their reunion will determine their fate.
olivia arrives home to no one in sight, much to her surprise. that is, until a dressed-up layla comes down the stairs, fleeing with joy as soon as she sees her best friend.
"you're home!" layla greets with a hug. "i missed you so much, how was london?"
they sit as olivia mentions how great the experience was. "oh it was amazing. to be able to explore and learn a lot about the different cultures & aspects, the feeling of inspiration & motivation felt blissful."
"as great london was, i missed being home."
"oh i'm sure you have." layla adds with a smirk on her face. liv chuckles as she already knows what it is about.
"are you ready to see your man again after a year?"
"to be honest, i don't know. i mean, i'm not the same olivia, ya know? i grew up. and i'm sure he's matured too. what if things with me and spencer feel different? god forbid, the both of us won't even work out."
"ok, i think you're overthinking. you guys confessed your love and promised to wait for each other at the airport."
"yeah, we told each other 3 months, and it ended up being a year."
"that won't change anything. trust me. i'm sure he misses you just as much as you miss him. you guys are going to be fine." her friend reassures.
olivia sighs as she nods, really wanting to believe the outcome.
"now come on, it's the celebration of my new karaoke bar! let's go have fun on your night back and hopefully your man might notice you..." layla drags liv out of the chair as they go upstairs to change.
"wait you have a karaoke bar?!"

after a night of fun and awkward tension between the two, liv and spencer arrive back at the baker house. more silence brews as they look into each other's eyes, not knowing what to say.
a few seconds go by before olivia speaks up. "the bar was cool! layla really put her hard work into it..."
"yep, it's crazy how much time goes by and you see how people grow... and change..." spencer awkwardly responds as it finally sparks a real conversation that needs to be had for a while.
"spencer..."
"i waited for you." he cuts her off. "i waited for you at that airport after those three months because that was what we promised each other. part of me was heartbroken that you decided to extend your stay. but a big part of me was and still is proud of you for having such an opportunity."
"trust me spencer, staying was one of the most difficult decisions in my life. do you know how much i wanted to hug you?! how much i wanted to kiss you?! how much i wanted to be in your arms the entire summer?! being apart from you felt like hell!"
"it was hell for me too! having to deal with all of these issues about football and you're not being here as my support. as my guide. as my light..."
the tone shifts from anger to sadness within a matter of seconds as spencer changes expressions. olivia walks closer as her expression aligns with his.
"i missed you so much olivia. too much."
"i missed you too baby. it killed me to not be with you. but so much has changed within the past year. we've both grown and matured in a way that honestly i would've never seen coming."
"as much as it pains us, being separated helps us more than ever. it will make our relationship much stronger than it was before. our bond will be much tighter. our love for each other will never fizzle out. we will always and i mean, always love each other spencer. i hope you will never forget that."
"never. the love i have for you will never go away."
"and i'm so sorry i broke up with you. i was so afraid of you leaving that i panicked. i made the hard choice before you could even say or do anything about it. all this time away from you has made me reflect and made me realize that no matter what happens, i will always need you, i will always be by your side and i will always love you, no matter what. because like i said before, loving you is something i'm probably going to do for the rest of my life."
emotions run by as olivia caresses his cheek, leaning in to kiss. "i love you too spencer."
finally, as long lasts, the kiss that they've been longing for happens. as they kiss, they wrap their arms around each other, not letting go for even a second. they fully make out as spencer carries olivia up the stairs and into the bedroom.
the door locks and spencer gently puts down liv on the bed, wasting no time undressing their clothes. the lustful night went on as the clothes were scattered all over the bed and overall, they were going to enjoy their long-awaited reunion.

decided to create this small chapter based on the trailer that was released! y'all i'm so scared for how spelivia's journey is going to go. hopefully, they will get back together and become stronger than ever. I'm excited for my babies to return and hopefully, season 6 is an improvement from season 5.
