And that's Okoshi! Cherry wine for everyone!

Thank you as always to the esteemed Araki. At the time of writing this, there's no anime adaptation for Jojolion yet, but I'm sure it'll be a banger once it does come out. I absolutely love Jojolion. I feel like it gets overshadowed a lot of the time by Steel Ball Run, but I personally love the change of pace of the eighth part, and the atmosphere and characters Araki brought together. It feels a lot more grounded and down-to-earth than the other parts (as much as JJBA can be down to earth, anyway).

Initial inspiration didn't come from anywhere in particular. I was just sad about the lack of Jojolion content so I wanted to get something out there. I'm so glad I did, because this fic helped me better understand Jojolion and its characters, as well as some of the Stand mechanics (which, if you've read the manga, you know they're notoriously convoluted).

Stands in Jojolion are actually one of the main things I love about the part. It's so fascinating to see how Stands have evolved in the JJBA universe and how elaborate they can become. I challenged myself to create a Stand that would match the phenomenon/physical object vibe that Jojolion had going on. I don't know how successful I was, but I hope I didn't make it too confusing haha.

Okoshi was originally going to include more Stand battles and interactions with some of the side characters. I struggled to figure out how to incorporate them without slowing down the pace too much, though. In particular, I planned on having scenes with Jobin and Caato's Stands and maybe even a stag beetle fight. I would've liked to go more into depth with everyone's Stands in general, but I think the central part of this fic was the mountain gods' curse.

For the curse, I was particularly inspired by the chapter about the Joestar Jizou in Morioh. The idea snowballed from there, but I love the idea of phenomena and Stand energy affecting the world at large. I also loved the chapter from Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan about the Millionaire Village. I think it provided the main inspiration for the mountain gods. That creepy kid from the chapter is who the mountain gods' avatar is based on, actually.

Anywho, thank you so much for reading this far! Whether you've been here since the beginning or are just stopping by, thank you for your time and a free ego-booster on my end (kidding, kidding). I appreciated every comment/vote this fic got. (Gotta feed the measly crowd of Jojolion enjoyers, I know.) I need the enjoyers to grow and I need them to grow now.

Please let me know if you have any questions or comments about Okoshi. I'll admit it's a strange concept, taking a step back to look at it haha. Hopefully I'll see you in some of my other fics. But if not, thank you again for reading and I hope you enjoyed Okoshi. Here's to more and more JJBA.

★ ⁺ — STAND PROFILE

DANCING'S DONE.

Stand Name >>

Dancing's Done

Namesake >>

Dancing's Done; Ava Max

Appearance >>

Dancing's Done is linked to a pair of black bone dice with gold pips. It can occasionally manifest as a humanoid.

Stand Type >>

Artificial Non-Humanoid; Stands that resemble tools, mechanical objects, vehicles, or other artificial constructs such as clothing.

Abilities >>

Dancing's Done's bone dice can be used as a measure of a particular individual's trustworthiness toward its user. Rolling a seven to twelve indicates substantial trust. Rolling a two to five indicates dishonesty. Rolling a six is considered the "true neutral" with trust able to go in either direction.

Depending on the number and individual rolls, a deal or "wager" can be formed using Dancing's Done. Individuals who roll from two to five can be made to carry out a task of the user's choosing, provided that the terms are agreed upon before the individual rolls. Once the dice are rolled, the individual will be forced to perform the task, as Dancing's Done will inflict various degrees of harm on the individual until the task is complete. Lower numbers will result in more serious harm. Anything Dancing's Done considers opposition will be punished. The more an individual opposes the task, the faster and more severe the injuries.

Individuals who roll a seven or above cannot be controlled in this way. If the user miscalculates and settles on a wager with someone who rolls above a seven, the user will be the one forced to carry out their side of the agreement.

The agreement is in place until the task is complete, or presumably, the individual dies from their injuries. Once a task is complete, all injuries inflicted by Dancing's Done will be reversed instantaneously without pain.

Weaknesses >>

After the dice have been rolled, the terms of an agreement cannot be changed. As well, the user cannot control the kind of injuries the other individual may incur. It is up to the user's intuition to decide whether or not a wager may go their way. If they are not careful, a user may end up harming themself as a result of an impossible wager.

Extra >>

It is unclear which came first, the Stand or the dice.

Inspiration >>

California King Bed. Just the vibe of Stands of Jojolion. I also like dice and the element of chance, what can I say?
