Chapter 9-Spiders And Plants

Toriel sighed sadly as she read a book in her couch. Despite the story being interesting, she couldn't really pay much attention to it.

"Oh, Rodrigo, my child..." Toriel mused, "I wonder how are you doing?

Suddenly, however, Toriel saw many spiders crawling inside her house!

"Oh, my! Spiders! Why so many are invading my house?!" Toriel gasped.

She hesitated. She wanted to guide them out of her house, but she didn't want to kill the poor creatures!

She then gasped, as she felt herself be enveloped by spider webs! "What?!"

"Ahuhuhuhu~ Miss Goat, we need to have a small talk, if you don't mind~"

Meanwhile, back at Snowdin...

"heya, kiddo. had nice dreams?"

"WOAH!!!!" Rodrigo, Frisk and Chara yelled at the same time as Rodrigo jumped from bed!

"Sans!" Rodrigo gasped, looking at the smirking skeleton sitting on the bed, "What are you doing here?! How did you even FIND me here?!"

"meh. had a hunch you'd be here. it's a good place to hide, i use it all the time when i feel like slacking off in my work." Sans shrugged. "as to what am i doing here....just came to say hi and see if you're doin' fine, kiddo. Undyne's furious that she lost ya."

"Little bro, I hope you know slacking off is naughty! Do NOT follow Sans's example!" Frisk warned Rodrigo.

"O-okay, big sis..." Rodrigo said, much to Sans's confusion.

"It's weird, though..." Chara noted, "Why would the comedian follow us here?"

"that expression...is one of someone who has no idea why i came here. why, can't i just want to say hi to my new friend, kiddo?"

"...." Chara glared at Sans even though the skeleton couldn't see her, she was clearly distrusting. Frisk held her little brother, but Rodrigo just innocently said. "Ehh...hi, Sans!"

Chara slapped her forehead at her partner's innocence, while Frisk sweatdropped and giggled as she thought it was rather cute of her little brother to be so innocent!

"yo, kiddo." Sans smiled, chuckling!

Then, the skeleton tossed him a bag of chips. "here, i figured you'd be hungry after all ya went through yesterday. was saving this for later, but i figure you need it more than me."

"Thanks, Sans! I love chips!" Rodrigo said, smiling as he opened the package!

"Again with the unhealthy food..." Frisk lamented, "We REALLY need to get lil bro some HEALTHY food..."

"Aww, Little Miss Perfect Behavior, don't nag Partner." smirked Chara. "You like chips as well. Admit it!"

"W-well, I...!" Frisk gasped, sweatdropping!

"Come on, Frisk...~ Ya won't wanna set a bad example for your lil bro and lie to my face, now will ya? :) " Chara teased her, with her trademark smirk!

"I-it's not a particular like or dislike issue, it's just..." Frisk whined.

"You're dodging the questiooooon!" giggled Chara. She was LOVING messing with Frisk!

This was getting Rodrigo's confused look at what was going on, and Sans's confused look at Rodrigo looking at an apparently empty spot of the bed!

"Oh, fine! It IS tasty! But it doesn't mean it's healthy!" Frisk pouted, with a small blush!

"Hah! I knew it!" Chara laughed.

However Frisk soon gasped and Chara smirked at the taste, as Rodrigo began eating the chips!

"That's real tasty, Sans!" Rodrigo smiled.

"hey, i try. speaking of which, once you get to Snowdin Town, we can have some Grillby's. ya look like ya need more food if you wanna some big BONES like mine." Sans winked!

Rodrigo and Chara began laughing again, with Frisk just giving a soft, embarrassed chuckle!

"welp, anyway, i gotta get moving now. Undyne and Paps are looking all over for ya, kiddo. watch out for the Royal Guard." Sans warned. "they ain't the sharpest tool of the shed, but hey, all in a DOG's day of work."

Rodrigo didn't get the joke this time, though Chara still laughed and Frisk patted Rodrigo's head with a smile.

"You'll get the joke with time, lil bro." Frisk promised.

As Sans laughed at his own joke, he then added, "stay safe, and hey, don't do anything i wouldn't. or, maybe, don't do anything i WOULD do in some cases. see ya, kiddo."

"Well, at least he seems to know slacking off is bad." Frisk smiled.

"Speaking of slacking off, isn't it time we started giving you some proper training, Partner? Your LV is only 1. You can't do much damage, but you can at least try and punch someone hard enough to give you time to run." Chara said.

"D-do I need to, Chara?" Rodrigo asked.

"Well, if you don't wanna us to have 50 Resets by the time we get to the next area, then yeah, I'd say so!" Chara scolded!

"Now, Chara, little bro has no need to fight." Frisk said, hugging Rodrigo.

"Overprotectiveeeee....." Chara mumbled, rolling her eyes.

"No, it's not like this! The idea of this journey is that Rodrigo gets through it without having to be violent, remember?" Frisk firmly said.

"Says you....I say it's impossible, so just accept fate and let me train Partner." Chara said.

Frisk and Chara glared at each other, one angry, the other stern....

"Hey, hey, hey, time out, time OUT!" Rodrigo whined, getting between them. "Why don't we just keep walking, and see where the road leads us?"

"...Oh, fine, lil bro. Ya know it's hard for big sis to say no to you." Frisk smiled, making Rodrigo giggle with a few head pats!

"Well, I can. It's easy, really, just say the letter "N" followed by the letter "O"...." Chara joked, laughing at Frisk's look!

"C'mon, Partner, it's better to keep moving than to stand here arguing for hours, right?" Rodrigo asked.

Chara huffed. "Yeah, Partner, got a point there. But I still think you need more training!"

As they walked, however, vines appeared from the snow, and shot at Rodrigo!

"WOAH!!!" Rodrigo yelped, barely dodging!

(Niiiiiceee, Asriel. Finally you're doin' some work by training my Partner!) Chara thought with a smirk!

"Little bro!" Frisk gasped!

"Big sis, help me!" Rodrigo pleaded, whining as the vines kept attacking! "I...I'm scared..."

"Don't worry, Rodrigo! I'm on my way, switch places with me and...." Frisk began, but Chara held her arm!

"C-Chara! Let go of my arm, I have to help my little brother!" Frisk said.

"NO, Frisk. Partner has to learn how to fend for himself. Remember what I told you the other day, his Determination is weakening because he's been relying on YOUR Determination, not HIS!" Chara sternly said!

"Partner! Big sis! Please!" Rodrigo whined, sniffling as he kept dodging.

"You seem to have a problem, Partner. Guess you should solve it!" Chara said.

As the plants and vines kept trying to pierce him, Rodrigo whined, "I-I can't alone! I'll die!"

"Then die." Chara calmly replied as she shrugged.

"CHARA!!!" Frisk yelled, outraged!

"What, Frisk? If he dies, we Reset and try again. Maybe Partner needs a wake-up call!" Chara said!

"That doesn't make it okay! And..." Frisk began.

"...It isn't pleasant. I know that, I'm not stupid! But if partner won't gain a single LV, he has to gain agility and bravery!" Chara said, then yelled, "Listen up, Partner! You are on your own. If you don't want a Reset, you need to do your best to get out of your problem! You're smart, so use that head of yours!"

At first Rodrigo was fearful and sad of how dismissively Chara treated his worry...but then he realized that she was only like this because they COULD Reset. And he knows that, admitting it or not, Chara cares for him, so...she must want him to learn something from this!

Frisk still tried to get free from Chara's hold, but to no avail. Her Determination wasn't as big as Chara's! "Leggo! I need to help my little brother! I'm not letting him-"

"...You're not letting him DEVELOP himself, sheesh." Chara huffed! "Frisk, if you are Rodrigo's big sis, turn these closed eyes of yours to him, and TRUST him. Ya can't protect him from everything!"

"B-but I can try..." Frisk began, but then was surprised as the fear on Rodrigo's face was replaced by a fierce determination! One who might be bigger than Frisk's AND Chara's, as for once Rodrigo seemed to be relying on his own Determination and not Frisk's!

"O...okay then." Rodrigo said, "Big sis, Partner! Watch me! I'll...I'll do this on my own!"

"L...little bro, be careful.." gulped Frisk.

Chara smirked, though! "Ah-HA! It's working!" she cheered.

Rodrigo began dodging again the vines. He noticed they tried to follow him, so...he decided to follow Chara's suggestion and use his head!

He ran all over the place, apparently running in fear, but in truth...he managed to get the vines to entangle each other, now unable to move!

"....Woah." Chara noted, letting go of Frisk's arm in surprise, then smirked and shot Rodrigo a thumbs-up! "See, Partner?! Ya can do it when you stop whining for Little Miss Perfect Behavior's help and start acting! I'm proud of ya!"

Frisk just ran to Rodrigo! "Little bro! Are you alright?! You aren't hurt, right?!" she asked, looking all over Rodrigo's arms and legs!

"Yeah, I am...big sis, it tickles!" Rodrigo giggled, as Frisk touched his arms looking for any injury! "B-but, did ya see me? I did it!"

Chara laughed and patted Frisk's shoulder! "You see? I told ya! You should give Partner some space to grow!" she said, then smirked, "Alright, Partner. You earned a full day without me getting in your case about training, so enjoy it while it lasts. Oh, and also, a Spiritual Chocolate."

Rodrigo cheered as he took it. "Thanks, Partner!" he said.

"...." Frisk only watched as her little brother eat his Spiritual Chocolate. "W-well...I mean...it was an interesting strategy on his part..." she mumbled.

"Oh, accept it. You had no real reason to be so worried, worrywart." Chara smirked.

Frisk sighed, but smiled. "Okay, maybe you're right..." she said, then patted Rodrigo's head. "I'm proud of you too, little bro."

"Thanks, big sis, and thanks, Partner! I'm so happy my plan worked!" Rodrigo grinned cutely!

"Yes, it did! You surprised your big sis this time." Frisk smiled, Rodrigo giggling as she patted his head more!

(Heh...good, Asriel. Keep helping me train Partner, and just maybe I might forgive ya....) Chara thought, smirking, before saying, "Okay, you two, enough chit-chat. Time to get going!"

"Whaaa?! C'mon, Partner, lemme rest a bit! I just got attacked by killer plants, for crying out loud!" Rodrigo whined.

"I have to agree with little brother, Chara. He went through a lot..." Frisk began.

"....Aaand he'll go through a lot more on this journey. Sides, you just got outta bed!"

However, as Frisk and Rodrigo protested, Chara sighed!

"...The hard way it is, then." she said, grabbing both Frisk and Rodrigo by the ears and dragging them along the road!

"Oww, owwie, oww, Partner, leggoooo!" Rodrigo whined!

"Ouch, oww, Chara, stop it!" Frisk also whined!

"Nope! I tried to be nice. Now, we're moving on and that's FINAL!" Chara huffed, as she dragged them!

Meanwhile, Undyne was furious. "PUZZLES?! Papyrus, this is no time for puzzles! We need to catch the human!"

"AHHH, BUT WE WILL, UNDYNE! YOU SEE, THE GREAT PAPYRUS'S PUZZLES WILL STOP THE HUMAN ON HIS TRACKS, AND THEN YOU CAN GET HIM!!" Papyrus explained.

"...Well...I mean, maybe, if you can confuse or distract him long enough..." Undyne mused.

"ya seem confused, boss. is that too much of a PUZZLING scenario for ya?" chuckled Sans.

"SANS!!!" Undyne and Papyrus yelled!

By this time, the three children were arriving. Rodrigo was still rubbing his ear. "T-that was mean, Partner...."

"Humph! I could keep giving you two spanks all the way here, now THAT would be mean. Be glad I went easy on both of you." Chara huffed.

"That was easy?!" Frisk groaned, rubbing her own ear, as she shook her head. "Nevermind...lil bro, you're okay?"

"It still stings, big sis..." Rodrigo whined.

"Aww, poor lil bro. We should eat something to restore your HP after Chara dragged us by our ears for a while." the overprotective big sis said.

"Oh, come ON! Frisk, I didn't beat Partner to an inch of his life, I pulled his ear a bit! Neither of you lost HP from that!" Chara said, exasperated as she rolled her eyes. "If he survived these plants earlier, he can survive an ear pulling!"

Frisk blushed, a bit embarrassed. "E-ehh...yes, you might be right. But I still think you were too rough." she said, rubbing Rodrigo's ear!

She then tilted her head...as her little bro rubbed her own ear!

"Your ear must sting too, big sis...you were pulled by it just like I did!" Rodrigo said.

"..." Frisk couldn't help but smile. "Thanks for the worry, little brother...."

Chara was about to be annoyed...only to find out she couldn't, as she turned away from the endearing scene so they couldn't see her face as she gave a soft smirk.

(I can't believe it...these two are making ME softer now! But...it's not like I don't know how hard it is for a big sister to not comfort their little brother when they need it...and seeing Partner like this makes me wish Asriel didn't mess up with me all this time ago...) she thought, not admitting out loud, but missing the times she used to be a big sister herself!

Yes, if she wanted, all she had to do was tell Rodrigo and he'd be glad to have his Partner as a second big sis...but Chara's pride would NEVER let her ask this of her Partner!

So, to take such thoughts out of her mind, Chara growled, "Sheesh, are we gonna stay here forever or what? Let's GO already!"

"Okay, Chara, no need to be pushy." sighed Frisk.

"But, let us walk with our legs, not by pulling our ears, kay, partner?" Rodrigo asked, pouting.

"Then don't waste my time, and I won't, partner." Chara promised the younger boy.

From a distance, Sans watched Rodrigo talk apparently with himself, as he had noticed Rodrigo do the same when they talked earlier. And then, there was the time where he kept his eyes closed in front of Undyne, his face and voice were the same, but he felt as if it was someone different there.

(Kiddo, are you REALLY the only one in there?) the skeleton wondered, (Or are there more souls in there for the ride? And if you're possessed...are your friends good or bad? I better keep an eye on you....sheesh, old lady, that's why I hate making promises...I just hope the kiddo won't make me break the promise I made for him!)

Meanwhile, back on the ruins, all of the spider girl's eyes blinked....as she found herself over Toriel's lap!

"....What?" she wondered.

"You naughty little girl! Attacking someone in their own home! Clearly your mother did NOT teach you good manners, so allow me to do it!" Toriel scolded, baring her purple bum-bum.

"H-hey, that isn't funny. Let go of me...this instant!" she said.

"You are NOT in control of your punishment, young lady!" Toriel scolded, landing the first spank!

"OWWWW! What the heck are you doing?!" the spider girl yelped.

"Child, have you never gotten spanked before?" Toriel asked.

"Ehh...what is a "spanking"?" she asked.

Toriel sighed at that! "I...I'll take this as a "no". she replied!

"Well, you got your answer, so let go!" the spider girl pouted.

"No, young lady. You need to learn this lesson." Toriel scolded, then sighed. "Now then...how shall I explain...?"

"Ehh...I understand better when I'm standing up!" the spider girl said.

"Nice try, young lady." Toriel said, with another spank!

"OWWW! Can't ya stop that?!" she whined.

"I can, as soon as I believe you learned your lesson. Now, as you noticed, a spanking is a series of slaps on your bottom. It is meant to teach you proper behavior."

"B...but I don't need to learn proper behavior..." pouted the girl.

"Clearly you do, if you invaded my home and attacked me!" Toriel scolded, as she began alternating cheeks.

The naughty spider girl yelped and squirmed. She couldn't believe how much this stung! How strong was this goat woman?!

She couldn't even move, as Toriel kept spanking. And, the spider girl thought, she was used to making others paralized, not to be unable to move herself!

"Owwie, oww, ouch, but, but I didn't want to turn you into a pie this time! Nor, oww, a cupcake!" she whined.

"THIS TIME?! You turn monsters into FOOD?!" Toriel gasped!

The girl sweatdropped, "Only....when they look tasty enough?" she nervously mumbled!

Harder spanks began falling!

"OWWIE, OWW!!! Aww, COME ON! I, I gotta make money somehow! If people are to stingy with their money, this is another way they can contribute, ouch, to the spider's cauuuusseeee..." she said, sniffling.

"Making monsters into food is NEVER justified, specially for such a small reason as gold! And why did you attack me, if you said yourself I wasn't on the menu?" Toriel demanded, spanking the sitspots.

"Waaaaahhhh! Cause I had questions, and when monsters are scared they answer more truthfullyyyyy...." she said. "I heard a human lived hereeee..."

This made Toriel blink! "My child? What do you want with him?" she cautiously asked, helping the girl up. "What is your name, child?"

"I...I'm Muffet..." sobbed Muffet, rubbing her bottom. "Oww, my tuffet..."

"Muffet, you wanted to eat my child?" Toriel asked.

"N-no...I heard that he's real gentle with spiders...." Muffet sobbed, "Spiders everywere talk well about him, so I wanted to meet the human..."

"Meet...him?" Toriel asked, confused, as she gently rubbed Muffet's backside to soothe her pain. "What will you do when you do meet him?"

"I...wanna ask if he knows a human I know. From before I fell here." Muffet sniffled. "B...but this is a long story. I just wanna you to tell me where he is!"

Toriel sighed, "Well, Muffet...maybe after your time-out."

"What is a time-out?" she asked.

She soon found out, as she was soon forced to face the wall and reflect on what she did.

And reflect she did, but her conclusion wasn't exactly that she was wrong in her forceful approach, only that she risked Toriel not telling her anything about the human she's looking for due to being attacked!

"Stupid, stupid...!" Muffet scolded herself, still sobbing a bit since her bottom is not used to being spanked at all!

Ten minutes later, Muffet was surprised as she got hugged. Toriel being so nice started making her feel actually sorry!

"Now no more eating monsters, okay, child?" Toriel asked.

"I make no promises, miss Toriel. But...I'm not gonna have YOU in my bakery~" Muffet promised.

This made the motherly goat sigh, and decide, "I suppose that IS a start. Now then, you wanted to know about my child, correct?"

Muffet nodded. "Yeah, please, tell me where he is, or what he even looks like, deary!"

"See, asking people politely is better than attacking them." Toriel praised. "My child is called Rodrigo. I do not know where he currently is, but I suppose near Snowdin, or Waterfall by this time, since he has left for a good time now."

Muffet gasped! "R...Rodrigo?" she wondered. That was a familiar name to her...

"Do you know him, Muffet?" Toriel asked.

"I...I might. If it IS who I think it is, it makes sense he'll be so nice to us spiders." Muffet said, then giggled, as she pulled her panties and pants back up and mused, "Ahuhuhuhu, deary, wait for me~ I've grown up quite a bit since we last saw each other!"

Muffet ran out of Toriel's home, followed by all the small spiders.

"Oh, dear...now I have to clean these spider webs." sighed Toriel, but then wondered, "How does Muffet know my child?"

After leaving the smaller spiders in the Ruins (for they wouldn't survive the trip outside of it), Muffet took a small ribbon from her pocket, one small enough that would fit a normal spider, but not her.

"Is this Rodrigo...my Rodrigo?" Muffet mused, smiling to herself. "I still don't understand how the magic Underground turned me from a normal spider into a monster when I came here to look for you, but it seems I finally found you! You've been a good owner back on the human world, but, now that I'm big and smart, I don't think I can be just a pet spider, so what will our relationship be? I'll have to think about it after we get to talk...ahuhuhuhu, wait for me, deary~"

With a fierce grin, Muffet then put her clothes against the cold, and braved Snowdin's cold!
