I and Papa were staring at Roop and Maa, who were laughing non-stop. Roop looked so beautiful while laughing. In her smile, I saw something more beautiful than the stars. I loved the feeling I got when I saw her smile.
"Aare humko bhi batao. Humko bhi jaanne ka mauka milna chahiye," (Tell us too, We should also get a chance to know) Papa asked, and I smiled, looking at the two of them.
"You don't believe, Papa. Maa knows everything," Roop said, controlling her laughter.
"Like?" I asked, as Roop hadn't given me attention till now.
"When Papa goes out of the room, I asked her, and she told me he was going to buy ice cream. She guessed right. She didn't even guess; she said it like it was going to happen, and Papa came back with ice cream," she said.
I hadn't seen her this talkative before. I think she is talkative, but she doesn't talk much in front of her family. A smile formed on my face, seeing Roop so comfortable around us. I thought she would take time to get familiar with us, but she's getting familiar in no time. I'm glad.
"She knows everything, especially when it's about me," Papa said proudly, looking at Maa.
Roop smiled at him.
"And?" I asked.
"What?" she asked.
"And why did you both start laughing when I said I'm so proud of my wifey? Did I say it wrong or what?" I asked, and Papa nodded.
"Wo-Me-" Roop tried to say, but Maa interrupted.
"That's a secret between us," Maa said, smiling mischievously.
I looked at Roop, who was still looking down, and thought she didn't want to tell me.
"Saas-bahu goals," I said, teasingly.
"Roop. It's okay if you don't want to tell me"
She looked at me and smiled.
"Pakdo pakdo, kuch ice cream ho jaye," (Take it. Let's have se ice cream) Papa said, forwarding the bowl towards Roop.
Roop took the bowl from his hand and mumbled a small "thank you." Papa handed us the ice cream-filled bowl.
"Anushka?" Roop asked, noticing her absence.
"Yes, why didn't Anushka come?" I asked.
"I called her, but she said she had to help Raj with something," Papa replied.
Yeh Raj ka bacha. Kuch dino baad Anushka ko bhi apne bas me kar lega wo.
Roop nodded, thinking about something. We talked for a long time, giggling and laughing. We finished our ice cream.
"Chaliye hum dono yeh sab kitchen me rakh ke aate hain," (Let's put these things in the kitchen and come back) Maa said to Papa and winked at him, and he smiled and nodded.
They stood up from the bed, and Papa took the bowls from the table, and Maa took the ice cream box. They headed outside the room.
I looked at Roop, who was already staring at me. Some ice cream was stuck on her lips, and she didn't notice it.
"To chal-" she tried to say, but I didn't let her complete.
My lips landed on hers, licking all the ice cream on her lips. She closed her eyes and held my collar in her both hands. I covered her lips with mine. I wanted to devour her, but I couldn't. She pushed my chest.
"What are you doing?" she asked, surprised.
"Cleaning my wife's lips," I said shamelessly.
"What?" she asked again, still surprised.
"Some ice cream was stuck on your lips," I explained, returning to my seat.
"You can use your hands also," she said, laughing.
"I don't want to. My tongue works better," I said, smirking.
She looked at me while touching her lips, checking if any ice cream was still stuck. Her face was red, blushed like a strawberry - my favorite.
"Baby, there's still some ice cream stuck on your lips," I said, leaning in for another kiss, but she pushed me back hard. I fell back, and she looked even more flustered, her blush deepening.
"Take me to my room, now," she said, extending her hand, signaling me to lift her.
I got off the bed and lifted her up. She felt like a feather in my arms. I could lift her like this for 24 hours if she'd let me.
"You're so light, like a flower," I said, smiling.
"Am I that light?" she asked, looking up at me.
"Yeah, I can lift you like this for 24 hours if you'll let me," I replied.
"I'm not that lightweight. You're just big," she said, pouting.
I laughed and carried her into her room, gently placing her on the bed.
"Do you need anything?" I asked.
"No, you can leave," she said, picking up her mobile from the bed.
"If you need me, I can stay with you," I said, hoping she'd say yes, and I could spend more time with her.
She shook her head, denying my offer, still looking at her phone.
I hated it when she didn't give me attention. I'm her husband, or at least, soon to be. She should give me some attention, at least.
"No, you should leave. I need some time alone," she said, still looking at her phone.
I took her phone from her hand and threw it aside. I leaned closer to her, my face inches from hers.
"For now, I'll leave you alone, but remember, after marriage, don't even expect me to leave you alone. Not for even one fucking second."
My voice was low and husky, and I could see the hint of surprise in her eyes. I wanted her to know that I wouldn't be ignored, not by my own wife.
