"Here, you should eat" Haechan said, placing the bowl of rice along with the side dish of the quail eggs down on the floor of their dorm

"I was going to eat later" she mumbled, turning in the bed to face him as he sat on the floor by the window, grabbing the tiny projector off his desk that she eyed over a month ago

"Well I already brought it down so just eat now" he shrugged, watching her lazily exit his bed to sit on the floor, grabbing the metal chopsticks and taking one of the quail eggs with ease into her mouth.

"Why are you being nice?" She asked, turning her head to him and wondering what game the universe was trying to play on her this time

"It's just food, relax" he mumbled, being too caught up with the projector in his hands, shifting through the multiple options

"Woah" she let out, watching an orange-yellow hue paint across their previously boringly lit dorm.

"It has a sunset option" haechan said, turning the light plastic dial to the next mode

"I don't know what this one does though" he hummed, wondering why one option was at a complete black

"Maybe you need to turn the lights off...my brother has one like that" she suggested simply, and Haechan nodded, springing up to his feet to turn the light off. The second darkness filled the room, specs of white twinkling around their walls were made known to the pair, making them both gasp a little.

"It's so pretty" Arin said with a pout, watching the stars twinkle around the surface area of their walls

"It's like you've never seen stars before" Haechan chuckled, turning the lights back on without warning, making her wince at the brightness of the big light

"Well I haven't...like properly" she said catching him off guard

"Like...ever?" He asked and she shook her head slowly

"I always grew up in the city...even in America you could hardly see the stars with all the street lights" she said, pursing her lips into a thin line

"Wow...i grew up in the country side so I guess it's pretty normal for me. Me and my sister would always run up to the roof and stare at the stars when she couldn't sleep" he smiled a small smile as he fondly spoke of his sister when they used to live together

"That's before I moved to the city with my dad though" he said, his smile turning a bit more sad as he sat down on his mattress.

"You don't get along with your dad?" She asked and he sighed, leaning back against his covers as she ate quicker to finish her meal that he thoughtfully brought down

"He was just never around...it was his second marriage and he just couldn't stick it out. Just kind of hate him for never being around for my mom or sis" he said, raising his eyebrows at the not so nice memories of him having to mature at an earlier age to be the man of the household in place of the father that never seemed to come home at a reasonable hour

"How did he even get custody of you if he was never around?" She asked, furrowing her brows and turning back to face him

"He had better lawyers I guess, the divorce split everything 50-50. I don't even think he wanted the custody" Haechan said, an emotionless voice as he talked of his old man. His eyes flicked over to Arin who looked at him sympathetically

"What about you and your dad? What's wrong with you guys?" He asked, propping his head up with his palm, elbow against the mattress as he looked into her eyes

"How did you know something was wrong?" She asked, placing the empty dishes on his table

"Takes one to know one" he chuckled, following her with his eyes as she sat against the foot of his mattress in deep thought

"Hmm...from what I heard, he was closer to Doyoung than me which makes no sense because Doyoung is his step son. But anyway, Doyoung didn't get into law school like he did in America and then boom, it's like he didn't exist to my dad anymore. He focused only on me and my education. You could imagine how angry he was when his biological kid couldn't follow in his footsteps either" she chuckled dryly

"And if it wasn't for your best friend breaking up with me before the SATs, I might've been able to get into Brown" she said with a sigh, turning to him who now held the same sympathetic smile

"What a dick" Haechan chuckled, seeing her non serious expression

"It is what it is" she shrugged, lying down onto the bed beside him, face just below his as he kept his head held up

"Well maybe its better this way" he shrugged, looking down at her with a smirk and she cocked an eyebrow up

"If you got into Brown, you would have never met me" he said and she rolled her eyes

"Wow, what a loss that would be" she deadpanned sarcastically and he let out a laugh which she joined in on. The two recovered, biting the inside of their cheeks as they faced each other with a smile

"I like the black better" he said out of the blue, admiring her close up which he hadn't done in a seemingly long time. He brought his hand up to the side of her head, tucking a strand of her short front pieces behind her ear

"Makes you look like a badass" he said, voice getting quieter as he complimented her

"You should dye yours too" she said, reaching her hand up to do the same to him, a string of flutters erupting in both their stomachs at the simple gesture

"Then we'd be matching" she finished, looking back into his eyes and he smiled a small smile

"That's something couples do" he chuckled dryly, originally hating the idea of it, but with Arin it didn't seem like the worst

"Yeah...I guess so" she said just above a whisper, closing her eyes as she brought his head down lower to meet hers, smashing their lips together. He groaned between their kiss at the impact, his mind telling him—begging him to pull away while his body remained on autopilot, following her initiative.

And just like him, her mind was racing with reasons to not do this, telling her this was a bad idea and that she was completely fucking up the gameplan. Revenge was a dish best served cold, but she knew the taste of Haechan's lips couldn't be beaten.

"Fuck—stop...we can't" Haechan sighed, pulling away from her and breaking their hold.

"We can" she said

"Well we shouldn't." He retorted, making her roll her eyes and throw his duvet over her body signalling for him to leave her alone while she sleeps

"Look I just...I can't do this anymore" he said with a sigh and she pointed towards the dorm door, not wasting another word on him. He took in a deep breath and stood up from the bed, reaching towards the door

"Goodnight" he said, opening their door to let himself out

"Die in a hole." She shot back, hearing him scoff before turning the light off and shutting the door behind him.

Her breath hitched at the sight of the stars on the room's walls and ceiling again, getting lost at the imagery of them moving around and twinkling in the dark room. She couldn't take her eyes off them. She let out a small sigh, reminiscing the conversation they just had together. She shook her head and let out a string of curses instead, telling herself to forget about him and stick to the plan. Revenge is what she was here for in the first place. Haechan was nothing more than a mere distraction.
