Olivia's P.O.V
It's now Friday the case we're working on is about to go to trial. Alex is out so there's a temporary ADA filling in for her. She's who we're waiting on now. Checking my phone, she was supposed to be here a half hour ago. "Sorry, I'm late Benson traffic was killer." Looking up there stands the bane of my existence as far as ADAs go.
Pushing off the wall I shake her hand out of polite courtesy. "Sonya It's always a pleasure." She laughs knowing damn well it's a lie.
"Cut the bullshit Benson what're we working with?" I fill her in on the case and she rolls her eyes. "I'm going to have a therapist come in to see if they're fit for trial." I tell her Wong has already said they aren't. "Well, I'm going to get a second opinion." She's always trying to prove us wrong.
I watch as she takes out her phone to make the call. I don't stick around to hear it though slinking back into my office. I really can't stand her. Trying to get through some more paperwork I can't help but be irritated. About an hour later there's a knock on the door. Looking through the blinds it's her of course. I get up opening it stopping dead in my tracks.
Behind her is Rayne at Amanda's desk. "I haven't seen you in a while I hope that's a good thing." The blonde stands smiling.
She levels out the height difference between them. "It is actually, things have been good." Rayne smiles at her rubbing her arm.
A pang of jealousy hits me even though in reality I believe Rollins is probably just one of her clients. I'm not the only one who sees this and reacts though. "Babe!" Sonya barks it out causing the woman to jump moving away from my detective to her side immediately. "This is Captain Benson she's heading the case." Looking between us, I can tell she's internally battling herself.
"I uh we've met she's agreed to help me with my thesis." That's all she says but even that causes the ADA to glare at her.
Everything Lindstrom had told me comes rushing back and the dots begin to connect. If she's dating Sonya that means she's more than likely the cause of her injuries. I'm not the only one that's picked up that there's something not right. Amanda and Fin are both eyeing her. I've seen behavior like this time and time again in victims of abusive relationships. My dislike for the attorney suddenly skyrockets. I knew she was a drunk and an overall bitch, but I didn't think she was this bad.
Breaking the tension, I lead them to the interview room allowing her to monitor the behavior of the perpetrator as well as the victim. Sonya never lets her get far and never lets me get too close. The whole time she's doing her observations she's eyeing her. It's almost as if she's waiting for her to do something she doesn't like. Rayne doesn't speak to me again knowing she's being watched, and every move is being scrutinized. After a while, she turns to face us. "The defendant has a mental delay even if you put him on stand, they'll plead mental retardation. The victim isn't much better the defense is going to tear her apart on that stand and just rape her all over. From a professional standpoint, the best thing to do is offer a plea out and never let this go to court." That's what I worried about.
Huffing Sonya paces a moment before crossing her arms and narrowing her eyes at the woman in front of us. I watch her immediately fold in on herself. "Well, you were of no help thanks for that. Go home I'll see you tonight." Practically running out of the precinct she disappears leaving just the two of us.
My anger has reached its breaking point. "What are you doing to that poor girl Sonya?" She just sneers blowing me off. "She's obviously terrified of you! What are you drinking and hitting her? Are you raping her?" Stopping in her tracks we're now in the middle of the pen.
