VII | The Grand Duchess' Coronation
Just as they had planned, Taehyung and Princess Irene went out together on the weekend, four days before her coronation, to choose a gown she wanted to wear. Her Royal Highness, by all accounts, was about to end a long time tradition of royalties wearing the most expensive hanboks on their coronations.
Like brother, like sister, Taehyung mused.
He remembered how it was a month of nationwide shock --- seeing it on the headlines everyday --- how the future heir to the throne chose to study abroad instead of following the old tradition wherein all royal members should go to Konkuk University for their bachelor's degree.
Taehyung was holding a cup of tea as he sat silently on the recamier, still lost in his own thoughts, while the princess was busy fitting the gown they both unanimously picked for any last minute alterations. His mind drifted off to last week, a few days after they made the public announcement of his and Jin's supposed engagement.
Taehyung leaned on his chair as he sighed tiredly. He was holed up inside his room the whole day studying with Dohyun-ssi and had just finished memorizing all the royal members' names from all the royal palaces when he gave him another brown folder.
He was about ready to cry.
"Sir Taehyung, this is the list of Prince Seokjin's personal information. It contains all of his likes and dislikes, his hobbies and interests since he was a child, and the things he usually do on his free time. You will also find some of his other details in here, like the names of his friends and the properties he owns. You will be spending the whole day with Princess Irene next weekend, so it is most likely that you will talk about His Royal Highness one way or another."
He heaved another sigh, looking at the folder with dread.
Guilt kept on piling up inside his heart.
"Why can't we just let them in on the secret? Tell them both the truth? I am sure Princess Irene and Prince Jungkook will understand. I hate lying to them. They are really good people."
Dohyun pulled out a single chair nearby and sat opposite from him. He gave him a small smile as he said, "Sir, there is a reason why Prince Seokjin doesn't want to tell his siblings. You see, Princess Irene hates the idea of an arranged marriage. She abhors it. Have you seen how Her Royal Highness treats Lord Jimin these past few days in the palace?"
Oh.
"I thought she just hates his attitude."
Dohyun chuckled lowly. "That as well. It doesn't help that they are staying in the same manor either."
"How about Prince Jungkook?"
"Prince Jungkook can't tell a lie to save his life. He wears his emotions all the time. Anyone can tell if he tries to."
