Dad: Rueben come on you're gonna be late for school!
I ignored him and went back to sleep. I heard footsteps and knew I was in trouble. My door opened and all of a sudden I felt the cold breeze.
Rueben: daaadddd
Dad: we need to go
Rueben: I'm not ready I'll just take the bus or walk
Dad: you sure?
Rueben: mhm
Dad: make sure you go straight to school. No detours
Rueben: okay dad
Dad: Alright I'll see you later
I got ready and walked to school. I walked past firehouse 51 where my brother worked
Capp: well if it isn't mini Severide
Rueben: hi Capp. Kelly here?
Capp: yeah he's in his quarters
Rueben: thanks
I walked in and jumped on his bed
Kelly: hey! Shouldn't you be at school
Rueben: hi to you too Kelly.
He just glared at me
Rueben: fine fine i have to walk today 'cause I weren't ready when dad and Dominique were leaving.
Kelly: let me guess dad told you to go straight to school
Rueben: ah shit
Kelly: give me 10 minutes and I'll drop you off
Rueben: can you not tell dad?
Kelly: the school have probably rung him. Your half an hour late
Rueben: fuck sake
Kelly: hey it's okay.
Rueben: No it's not he'll be mad
Kelly: I'll talk to him. Go wait at the squad table
Rueben: alright
I was making my way through the firehouse when I saw Andy
Rueben: Andy
Andy: hey kiddo. Shouldn't you be at school?
Rueben: yeah Kelly's gonna drop me
Andy: have a good day
Rueben: when do I ever have a good day?
Andy: well if you get a decent report I'll buy you that new Lego set you wanted
Rueben: really
Andy: promise
We did pinky promise
Rueben: your the best
Andy: I'll see you later okay. Be good. No trouble
Rueben: bye
Kelly: reub let's go
Kelly pov
We were driving to school and I saw he was just zoned out
Kelly: Rueben. Rube
Rueben: hmm
Kelly: you okay?
Rueben: yeah I'm fine
During the drive he was getting restless and struggling to sit still. His leg was bouncing and he was tapping his hands on the dashboard.
Kelly: hey bud calm down for me
Rueben: sorry
Kelly: hey it's okay. You just need to calm down before you get to school okay
Rueben: I'll try
Kelly: did dad pack you lunch?
Rueben: no Dom did but I left it at home so I'll just get something from school
Kelly: you got money?
Reuben: I'm not sure. I don't know if dad topped up my lunch card
Kelly: okay here's $10. Firehouse after school
Rueben: yeah
Kelly: right we're here. Have a good day and no trouble
Rueben: I'll try. Be safe
Kelly: always
He got out the car and walked towards school.
I went back to the firehouse and we had a call.

So far my day was going alright. I wasn't getting into as much trouble as I usually do. I was mainly getting in trouble for not paying attention and shouting out. The bell finally rung for lunch. I was having lunch with my friends when someone threw something at me.
Rueben: what the fuck was that for?
Cory: your sister is a druggie. Your mums dead and your dads a waste of space
Rueben: shut the fuck up
Cory: how do you feel? I hope she overdoses and dies
Rueben: you fucking son of a bitch
I swung for him and we started fighting. I was winning. Cory got in a few punches but I landed more.
Mr Mathews: hey that's enough. Rueben
I felt someone pull me off.
Mr Mathews: let's go and calm down
He took me to the isolation room. I sat down and I was just shaking in anger.
Mr Mathews: talk to me Reuben. This hasn't happened in a while. You were doing so well. What happened?
Rueben: nothing
Mr Mathews: if you don't talk to me I can't help you
Rueben: just leave me alone
Mr Mathews: if you tell me maybe I can help
Rueben: fuck off and leave me alone
I walked out of school and was just walking around. I went towards the fire station but the trucks weren't there so I went in and sat on Kelly's bunk. I ended up falling asleep. An hour later I woke up and they still weren't back so I went to the park. I was playing football when Cory came up to me
Cory: I've been suspended for a week and grounded and it's all your fault
He pushed me and punched me so I hit him back and it then turned into a full blown fight. We didn't stop until we felt someone pull us apart. They kept me restrained.
Rueben: get off me
??: calm down
Rueben: get the fuck off me
I tried to get out and ended up elbowing him in the ribs. He double over in pain and his partner came over and put me in cuffs
Rueben: what the fuck?
??: once your calm we'll take them off
After 10 minutes I had calmed down a little so they took the cuffs off.
??: who are you staying with?
Rueben: Kelly Severide.
??: oh okay. Is he working or at home?
Rueben: working
??: we'll take you to the firehouse now
I got in the car
??: what's your name kid? I'm officer Kevin Atwater and this is officer Kim Bergess
Rueben: Rueben Severide sir
Kevin: you don't have to call me sir Kevin's fine
Kim: so you Kelly's son or?
Rueben: brother
Kim: interesting
Kevin: right we're here
I got out
Rueben: I'm sorry about earlier
Kevin: it's fine. You seem like a good kid. Next time we won't be too nice. Where's Kelly we need to talk to him?
I just nodded and made my way inside with them following me.
Rueben: Casey you seen my brother?
Matt: he's in his quarters but take it easy on him okay
Rueben: why?
Matt: that's for him to tell you
Rueben: alright. If you see Andy tell him I wanna talk to him
I walked to Kelly's quarters and he was just laying in his bunk staring at the wall. I knocked and walked in.
