Amber

She has a hundred different answers for every question asked,
Certainty when I have none,
Confidence to my insecure.

She's irresistible when I know I shouldn't be near her-
A pull I can't always ignore-
And arms to wrap around me when I'm lonely.

Amber has a sense of safety I can't trust,
But can't leave behind
When I'm the most vulnerable.

She's been there for so long I don't even know when she first started coming around.
I've grown so accustomed to her that every resistance
Is met with "Are you sure?".

What a sweet,
lovely,
honey voice that draws me in for the kiss
So great and horrible
With spikes that impale me every time I think she's safe.

Amber tricks me,
Toxic poison in my veins I don't completely hate
Because she's all I know.
