Two weeks later...
Abby stood with her four teammates and gazed up at the Château de Brissac. Known as the tallest castle in France, it was breathtaking in person. The five of them stood in awe, their hands full with gear and cases filled with the equipment they would need to effectively investigate this beautiful location. They had read up on the stories about 'la Dame Verte', the Green Lady, and were excited to see if they could capture any evidence of her, especially photographic. They heard the stories that she had black holes in her eyes and nose and wanted to get video or pictures. Abby cleared her throat, then nodded at the others, her signal to begin setting up all their gear.
Michelle was the tech expert, so she got to work setting up all the monitors in the main entrance, which would be their staging area, and where they would monitor the cameras. While she was doing that, the rest moved around the castle, to pre-selected hot spots and set up the motion sensors, cameras, and REM pods. It took about two hours to set up everything, but once they were all done, they met back at the staging area to see if everything worked as they liked. Abby and Michelle sat at the table of monitors, their fingers adjusted some of the pictures and tapped a few keys on the keyboards, then looked at the others.
"We're all set," Abby said with a smile.
Her team high-fived, then grabbed their respective equipment before they made their way to their positions throughout the castle. Michelle and Erik posted at the staging area, while Abby made her way to the Chapel, where she hoped to capture any sign of the Green Lady in the tower. Susan was tasked with wandering through the castle to see if any other spirits wanted to communicate with her.
Mikah walked through the different halls and asked questions while he held one of the digital voice recorders and an EMF detector. He would play back the recorder to see if there were any responses to his questions. Abby made it to the chapel and set up a REM pod, as well as a Spirit Box, with the hopes that the Green Lady would utilize them to communicate.
Several hours went by without any real activity. Abby looked down at her watch and saw that it was getting close to 4 a.m. and she remembered that her research stated that the Green Lady typically did not appear until closer to dawn. She hoped that this was true and she would get some great shots of the spirit.Abby sat on the ground, crossed her legs, and rested her wrists on her knees. She relaxed her body, closed her eyes, and took slow deep breaths. She focused her senses on her surroundings as she took slow quiet breaths. Her ears twitched at each sound, and her nostrils expanded and collapsed with each intake of air. A soft gust of air brushed by her left ear, which caused a few strands of her hair to fly away from her face.
She sucked in a breath as she continued to feel her surroundings with her senses. There was a soft swoosh sound as if a dress swished across the floor. She slowly opened her eyes and saw her. The Green Lady moved slowly through the tower, where her eyes should have been were dark deep black sockets, her nose was a black hole as well. She moved slowly towards Abby, whose heart rate started to pick up. This was not the first time she had experienced a spirit, but it was the first time she was completely alone.
Abby knew that she was being monitored, but she still could not help as she became a little anxious as the spirit got closer to her. She kept her eyes on the spirit as she thumbed through the different questions she wanted to ask in her head. She gulped suddenly as the Green Lady stopped a foot in front of her, her empty eye sockets focused on her. Abby felt a cold chill run down her back, which created goose bumps to form along her arms and neck.
"I am Abby, I am not here to disrupt you," she said to the spirit.
The Green Lady did not respond.
"You are the Green Lady?" Abby asked. She hoped that she would get a response. To her pleasure, the REM pod lit up quickly, then went off. Abby smiled.
"You can use that device to communicate," she said as she motioned to the REM pod.
"Just direct your energy to it and you can light it up," the REM pod lights twitched briefly as the Green Lady tested what Abby had told her.
"That's it, see, you don't have to use too much of your energy to get it to work."
The Green Lady looked at Abby, and then suddenly the REM pod lit up completely, all colors were solid and the pitch tone associated with it blared through the tower.
"Ok ok... I get it you can do it," Abby declared as she grabbed her ears.
The REM pod went silent once again, but the Green Lady was not done with showing Abby her full power. She began to float closer to Abby, whose eyes were fixed on her, but she did not move. That may have been a bad decision, one that Abby did not recognize until it was too late and the Green Lady had passed right through her and then disappeared. Abby began to cough, she grabbed her throat, and then her chest before she passed out on the floor.
