Episode 2: The Great Jedi Purge Mission

Back on Coruscant, Anakin informs Mace Windu that Palpatine is the Sith Lord they've been searching for. Mace Windu instructs him to stay put and recruits Kit Fisto, Agen Kosar, Saesee Tin to arrest the Chancellor. Windu attempts to contact Wen and Obi-Wan first but only receives static and blaster shots in the comm. 

"They must not have made it," Windu tells the other Jedi, "We have no time to waste," 

"What if this causes him to issue the Order?" Fisto asks. 

"Then we'll know it's coming," Mace replies. 

"Chancellor Palpatine, you're under arrest for crimes against the Grand Republic," Mace Windu states as he and the other Jedi ignite their lightsabers. Palpatine's laughter is heard all around them. 

"We're sooo not getting paid," Shia bemoans in the medical bay. 

"So that's how he plans to wipe us out," A voice says behind them. 

"Gaaah!" Wen exclaims and turns around quickly. "How did you get in here???" 

Obi-Wan removes his hood, "Very carefully," he responds. 

"General Kenobi!" Rex shouts from inside the scanner. 

"Good to see you too old friend! Although I really don't think you're supposed to move around so much while you're in there," Obi-Wan responds with a smile. 

"I'm sorry, but uh, can we return to who is going to 'wipe us out'?" Kyreen asks. 

"Darth Sidious. The Dark Lord of the Sith. But you know him as Chancellor Palpatine," 

Everyone stares blankly at Obi-Wan. 

"Dooku told me a Sith Lord controlled the Senate but I never believed it was the Chancellor himself," he muses softly. 

"So Chancellor Palpatine... is the Sith Lord. And he's going to use the clones to wipe out the Jedi with Order 66?" Wen asks. 

"Sir, we would never!" Rex shouts again from the scanner while Obi-Wan nods. 

He places his hand on the scanner Rex is in, "It was never up to you, dear friend. This whole war was just a muse to create an army for the Republic that he could turn on the Sith's longtime enemies - the Jedi," 

"Well, maybe not," Kyreen says and points to the orders that Shia is scrolling by in Rex' inhibitor chip. "Scroll back up," 

Shia scrolls back up and Kyreen has her stop on Order 65. 

"What's that?" she asks. 

"It looks like, if the Republic or the Security Council deem the Supreme Chancellor incapable of performing his duties to the Senate, the clone troopers are to arrest or execute him if necessary." Shia reads. 

"If the storm troopers kill Chancellor Palpatine, he won't be able to issue Order 66," Jebediah acknowledges. "And with the inhibitor chips, we know they'll carry it out," 

"We can't disable them, so we make them work for us!" Shia realizes. 

"I fear it may not be that simple," Obi-Wan ponders, "Even so, the Security Council and the Galactic Republic aren't scheduled to meet together for weeks," 

"Well I mean, Todouo Wedil is the Security Council chairman. He could speak for them," Wen says. 

"I don't suppose you have him on speed dial?" Kyreen asks. 

Wen smiles and says "He doesn't actually need to be here," He holds up a holoprojector impersonator. "We just need to look like him," 

On Coruscant, Windu is reflecting Force lightning back onto Sidious. Anakin sees the other Jedi slain on the ground and is pressured by the Sith Lord to save him. Anakin cuts off Windu's arm, and Sidious zaps him to his death. Palpatine then anoints Anakin as Darth Vader.
