Recap:
"Why doesn't Jonathan have to come?" Jordan whines.
"Because he's gonna be with me in Metropolis. We have to go pick some stuff up. But if you guys are good about it then I'll bring back some ice cream and pizza from that one place you guys like.
"From Jay's!" Me and Jordan yell. Liam just looks at us confused. While dad just nods and laughs.
"It's a pizza place that sells giant pizzas and it's really good." mom says.
"Oh okay"
"You okay bud" Mom asks while brushing some curls away from his eyes.
"I'm fine." He says.
"Liar" Jordan mutters but we all hear it. Liam just looks at him unbothered but his heart must pick up or something because dad looks at him with a puzzled look.
"Should we start getting ready then?"
"Yeah guys listen to Jonathan and get ready we'll meet back here in thirty." Dad said.

Jonathan's POV:
"Bye Mom, bye guys." I said while getting in the truck with my dad.
"So where are we going?" I asked. He just ignored me and changed the subject, making me suspicious.
"I brought you a shake, it's your favorite." He said as he handed me a white bottle.
"I wouldn't say it's my "favorite". They're all pretty nasty" He just gives me an unimpressed look.
"So back to my question, why are you being all secretive and why did you split us all up?" He just sighed and continued driving. I didn't think he would tell me but then he started responding.
"We have an appointment with Dr. Miller." I looked at him with confusion.
"Wait, why? The last time we went was to get my stitches removed."
"Well it's been a couple of weeks since you had a check up."
"I heal, I don't need monthly physicals." I sassed, starting to get annoyed. He just sighed defeatedly.
"I know Jon. Truthfully we're still a little worried about your weight so your mother and I talked to the doctor and decided monthly weigh-ins would be a good way to monitor your progress plus he could help guide us with your meal plans and recovery."
"What recovery?! You all act like I have an eating disorder or something!" My dad made a sound like a mix between a whimper and a cough. After I said it I immediately regretted it. Silence filled the car; the only sound was us and the other cars on the road.
"...I-I'm sorry I didn't mean to blow up on you. I just don't like when I don't have a say in things."
"I know Jon. I'm sorry we should have included you in the conversation. We just wanted to give you time to adjust but it wasn't the right thing to do. We should have involved you, it is your health after all." I just smiled at him.
"But... Jon you need to know that as your parents sometimes we have to make tough decisions and you need to know that we'll do anything to keep you safe and healthy even if they seem scary. I know you don't like going to the doctors or medical equipment for obvious reasons and that's okay we can figure something out but if you need them then we have to find a way to get it done." I deflate a little when I hear that and my smile falls. I get that he's my dad but I'll be an adult in a couple years and I should have a say in my life. I just grumbled and ignored him for the rest of the ride. Purposely leaving my shake bottle untouched.
