CHAPTER 4: GUARDIAN ANGEL

(POV: Bavyesh)

I was tapping on the table, while a boy hardly around 26 years old came, he was panting probably was running to get here. "Kabir, have a seat." The principal said, the one thing I noticed he is still bootlicking to this kid. The kid is way too cocky for my liking, he took his seat beside my chair, his tattered jeans he did not even have any decent sense to dress up properly to be even here. I clicked my tongue in the thought of him pursuing Anvi. "Is there any issue with anything, sir?" he asked the principal placing his right leg over his left leg. Arrogance I noted it in my mind. "This is Anvi's guardian he wanted to know what happened between you and her." He looked at me with a smirk stretched on his face. Honestly, he looks like a piece of junk no wonders Anvi rejected his ass. "Are you, her brother? I am Kabir Arora nice to meet you." he said stretching his hand for a handshake. I looked down at his head. Shook his hand "I am her would be husband actually." I took back my hand wiping it with the handkerchief gave me earlier. I saw his face twist at my actions. "So, what's the issue between her and you?" I saw him getting flushed at his face. Oh, I just realised I love ticking off this child. "I have no problem with her." He said his voice a little raised. I cocked my eyebrow up at his pitch. Do not slap him in here I reminded myself in my head. "So why is that you are preventing her from appearing for exam?" I asked my voice strained. "She just didn't attend class I don't want others to feel discriminated against if she appears then others will feel that it is unfair and that's my duty as a class representative." He said "oh is it Kabir, so let me ask where were you today during the seminar?" I saw him getting angry as he is visibly red at face now. "Listen child I don't think Ravi Arora would like to know this bit of information ,so don't let me go through anything." I saw his eyes widen to the shape of saucers at the mention of his father. "I don't know who you are but I am not doing anything illegal I am just standing for basic student right." He said shaking trying to come up with excuses and to prove his innocence "are you now? then I guess your father will be very proud to hear about your activities in here." I said cockily. "Sir let's not do that." The principal stuttered trying to intervene. "Principal I would like to launch a full investigation in the narcotic cell and bullying cell against Kabir Arora, well according to your university rules I know if a student is deemed guilty, they are expelled from the university." The room's temperature dropped at least by 10 degrees as these words got out of my mouth. "Sir let's not go there a child's future will be destroyed here." The principal tried to reason out "so you are aware of what he does around the campus, are you saying you are tolerant towards those activities. or are you involved in it too?" I asked looking at the principal i know as much as he loves bootlicking he wont jeopardize his position "well no but I mean you know how it could harm his future even a mere investigation." "Oh, will it now? But I did not hear you saying this when you were so excited to bar Anvi from appearing for the examination." I clenched my jaw at the thought of this corrupt principal sitting opposite to me. "Kabir will apologise to you Mr Malhotra please understand Mr Malhotra we wont bar Anvi anymore." He spoke out rapidly. I looked at Kabir who was about to blow off as his ego is shattering bit by bit. "It's not me to whom he should apologise to, I think he understand what I mean." I spoke looking at him with pure disgust. "Kid if you are clever enough, I will suggest you to apologise to my Anvi without being a nuisance or it won't take me minutes to pull something you will regret for life." I saw his face twist in anger. "Apologise to Mr Malhotra right now Kabir." I hear the principal commanding him. "Sorry for my behaviour." He gritted it out hardly. It soothed me, I imagined how that little girl would have pleaded with this piece of crap to rethink the tick of degrading him more bites me from within but I withhold my twisted schemes because I cannot let my little hamster to know about me right now. "Apologize to her and you guys let her appear for examination and if you guys show any wrong doing against her it wont end up nice because I will get to know it." I said standing up pulling up my sleeves. They nod shaking. I noticed a small smile etched at the face of the head of the department. "And yes, and do not tell her I talked to you guys she does not like bothering me so keep it mind. "I warned looking specially at Kabir. I saw him trembling I do not know if it is out of anger or fear and honestly, I do not care. "Hopefully we don't meet again." I said before going out. "Keep someone to guard and look over Anvi without her noticing it." I ordered Ashish. He nodded I know as dark it is I know but I cannot stay put without keeping an eye on her without making sure by myself that she is safe.

(POV: Anvi)

I somehow got back to my room. I was racking my brain how to get things right. I cannot let mom know she will be disheartened and, I cannot let her get humiliated for me she is already doing so much for me. I feel already terrible inside. I was about to call one of my friends to let her know what happened as both have bombarded my cell phone with messages. Suddenly I saw HOD's call incoming. My gut twisted what more about to go down. I gathered my courage to receive that call "hello Anvi." Her voice came gently "yes ma'am." I said trying to be strong. "You can appear for the examination so don't worry just focus on studying hard." I heard her saying with relief "really ma'am?" I was shocked because I did not agree to Kabir's proposition. "Yes, do make us proud. "She said I heard her chuckling. Relief washed over my body. "Thank you, ma'am, I won't let you down I promise." I notice my voice breaking due to happiness. "Thank your guardian angel." she said with a soft laugh before disconnecting the call. I feel tears streaming down I breathe out "thank you God. "I whisper. I do not know what happened but God saved me today and I am thankful for it. I know Kabir and he is way too vile to draw back. I do not know what went down nor do I have the energy to investigate I have to study hard to make everyone proud. "Thank god for helping me out." I prayed.

Next morning:

I arrived at college gate a little early waiting for my two friend to arrive. I saw Kabir approaching me. I froze on spot. Oh god its bad news. "Anvi" he said his voice spiteful. I tried to evade but it will not be the wisest decision given his attitude right now. "You can give the exam sorry for anything." His nostrils flaring up I. I was dumbfounded at seeing him apologise. "I well thank you." I stuttered out. He spat "well I didn't know you were like that going and spreading yourself for men more powerful I would have satisfied you too." I flinched at his voice and placed a hand over to protect myself. "I wouldn't touch used goods." He spat out before going. Breathe in and out Anvi not the time to cower to your demons. I do not know what changed but I stay rooted at my place I felt glances and looks from surrounding, I wanted earth to swallow me. I tried to reason with myself that he is only doing this as he could get, me but it hurts get hurled at insults when you did not even do anything.
