Selene thought about her questionable life choices as she was vomiting into the toilet, one of them being going out to drink with Mor. She'd left almost immediately after meeting the Archeron sisters, the longing in Cassians eyes for the rude one being too much for her to bear, she needed a distraction that Mor had been happy to oblige."I shouldn't" Selene groaned, "have gone out"
Mor silently agreed, patting her back sympathetically and holding her hair back as she retched again into the toilet. Muffled voices ensued as Mor left Selene to her suffering, closing the door behind her before Cassian entered.
"You do realize that we are going to be discussing meeting with the High Lords in the morning, correct?" Cassian snorted, amused as he took in her inebriated state.
"Shut up and help me get home, Cassie."Selene extended her hands to him expectantly, knowing he would help her eventually.
__________
"Now do you regret going out?" Cassian called as she made her way past him into the kitchen for a glass of water.
"I already regretted it, but you flapping your big mouth makes me regret it more."Selene shot back, slumping onto the couch downing the water in one gulp.
"Ha! I knew someone in this house would agree with me!"Mor proclaimed, snagging an apple off the counter and gracefully draping herself across a chair.
"Well, I think that I make every day more enjoyable for you females."
"Says the male who spends forty five minutes each day in the morning admiring himself in the mirror."
Mor's lightning fast retort landed, Cassian drawing back with a hand on his chest and Selene chocking on laughter.
"You are all children,"Amren declared, "that need to have a nap. Preferably for the rest of eternity."
The short silver eyed female strode into the room, terrifying Selene despite the years of being acquainted and felt the others did too.
"Need I remind you that we are in the middle of a war."Amren seethed, seemingly upset about something unknown.
Perhaps she lost her jewelry or Cassian took it. Selene had avoided the topic of Cassian and Cassian himself in general like the plague. It was incredibly petty of her to give whom the silent treatment even though he didn't know.
Would never know, she reminded herself, he would never know.
He had, after all been avoiding her too. He never came to drag her out of bed at the buttcrack of dawn to train anymore, any interactions between them were strained and barely lasted more than three minutes, but the worst part was having to stand next to him as he trailed Nesta Archeron with his eyes, having to smell his reaction each time Nesta would walk into a room.
It was torture at its finest except the pain was internal. A burning, never-ending spiral of pain. Selene on multiple occasions had been tempted to ask Rhys outright about how he handled knowing that his mate was to be wed to another male, even if it would only prompt questions.
Questions she didn't know the answer to.
