Therians are people who appreciate every millimeter of nature, every animal, plants, insects, they love nature very much. Quadrobics doesn't makes you therian, gear doesn't makes you therian- you can't just become a therian... You can't stop being therian... Some therians believes that they been animals in the past live- someone not.
During this time, a subculture emerged that adopted the term therianthropy to describe a sense of intense spiritual or psychological identification with oneself as an animal. Representatives of this subculture usually call themselves therianthropes or therians .The subculture dates back to 1992 , when a Usenet group alt.horror.werewolves was created to discuss fictional werewolves. Some participants of the forum publicly claimed that they feel like they are partly animals. Some joked, but there were enough of those who were quite serious, which further determined the development of a separate direction and a certain tendency. Soon, many like-minded people joined their group. The first therianthropes called themselves lycanthropes . Soon, the term lycanthrope , which is more suitable for describing wolf-people, was changed to a more meaningful term - therianthrope . Those therianthropes who share the idea of a spiritual understanding of this phenomenon think that they have the spirit or soul of an animal in whole or in part , which is somewhat similar to shamanism and totemism . They often borrow ideas from werewolf stories in Celtic , Scandinavian and Indian myths .
Most therianthropes refer to themselves as wolves or felines , among which wolves, lions, and tigers are often found, but there are also representatives of reptiles, birds, other mammals , and insects.
A therianthrope usually refers to one species of animal. There are cases of identification with several representatives of the same family of animals and much less often with all representatives of the genus. There are also cases of identification with mutually dissimilar animals. The type of animal with which a therianthrope is identified is called a theriotype in the English-speaking subculture .
Some therianthropes think they are capable of shapeshifting , that is, of physically changing their appearance. At the same time, counterianthropes are those therianthropes who do not feel the ability to change form, but claim that they have human and non-human sides of their essence as a single whole. Thus, according to this view, counteranthropes live the lives of both human and animal while being at some point on the continuum between the two entities.
Therianthropy ( eng. therianthropy ) is a term used to denote the transformation of a person into another animal form in mythology or as a spiritual concept. The word comes from the Greek therion , meaning "wild animal," and anthrōpos , meaning "man."
In English-language folklore, mythology, and anthropology , the term therianthropy is used to describe a character that has both human and nonhuman animal qualities. The most famous form of therianthropy is lycanthropy. This term comes from the Greek lycos ( wolf ) and denotes the transformation of a wolf into a man or a man into a wolf. The term lycanthropy is used not only for werewolves, but also to describe the phenomenon of human transformation into any other animal form.
