Detective Wells flipped another page in the thick file he had sitting in front of him.

"As you can see, Nilly, from the results of the tests we ran, you have a high resistance to telepaths. Therefore keeping your thoughts hidden for the most part or fully from them. Your brother doesn't have resistance as much as he is surprisingly good at hiding his thoughts from them. We find this information very interesting and helpful to an extent."

Nilly raised an eyebrow. "Why is that?"

Wells smiled. "Well for one," he started. "We could send you two undercover. That in itself is very helpful."

"Yes!" Nilly grinned. "I like that idea! Going undercover to Slim's mansion sounds like fun!"

"Well you wouldn't be going for fun, it would be for one reason and one reason only. To get us information."

"Right! I know that!" Nilly's wide grin didn't reassure him. "The info we could get from there would be so useful, I'm totally going along with your plan. So I assume you know where the forest is, right?"

"First things first. Aiden is going to need some convincing. You know how he is."

"That'll be no problem! Consider it done!" She paused for a second. "But, what about Kagekao?"

Wells gave her a blank stare.

     "Our cat," Nilly clarified.

"That's where you improvise. Quite frankly we're kind of throwing you into the lion's den and expecting you to figure out the rest yourself."

"Mhm," Nilly gave a disappointed look. "Seriously? You don't even have a plan?"

"We do... But the details are still in the works." Wells said, unconvincingly.

"It's fine. I can figure it out! Trust me on this, if you give me some leads to the forest, I'll come back with multiple bucketfuls of intel."

Wells chuckled. "I like the enthusiasm." He moved to stand. "Well, I'll let you go now. See if you can get Aiden to go along with the plan, and if you do, ask him to call me right away."

"Will do!" Nilly waved and left his office.

She found Aiden in another room, reading some papers.

"Hey, bro?" She began sheepishly. "I was wondering... if... Wells brought up the whole 'infiltration' subject yet."

His head snapped up, his eyes furious. "He brought it up to you!?! Of course he did. That damn manipulative motherfucking son of a-"

"That's government officials nowadays. But, um, I think it's not too bad of an idea."

"No. Absolutely not Nilly. There is NO way I'm letting you do anything like that."

"I know you're worried about my safety, but there's something more important than that. If we did go and managed to find something about Cassy... I feel like it would help me a lot. Knowing why she did it would make it easier to let go, you know? I would be able to forget the whole thing... but only if I knew."

Aiden flinched and I knew I'd hit a soft spot. When he spoke again his voice was quieter, calmer. "Nilly, I get it. Honestly, I do. But there is no way I'd be able to live with myself if something happened to you. These people are dangerous, Nilly."

CRY!!! Nilly internally screamed. THIS IS ONLY GOING TO WORK IF YOU CRY!!!! Think about- puppies dying or something! A sad anime death! YES! That will work!
