Winter had never really liked the idea of being heartbroken.
But this crushing feeling, like her chest was getting sent through a shredder, was definitely it.
She and Ningning were now in the same boat; both girls spent hours venting about the most random things to each other. There wasn't anyone to help.
Winter was currently feeling a lot of things.
Heartbreak, obviously. Karina couldn't even say that she at least liked Winter. She'd gone quiet in front of the whole cafeteria.
And Heeseung.
Which brought her to the second emotion; betrayal. People would walk around congratulating Karina for showing her true colors and ditching Winter where she most deserved it, showing the rejects that no one actually enjoyed their company.
That linked to emotion three: shock.
Winter still couldn't believe Karina was faking.
She had to have been real, but Winter wasn't in the headspace to give the girl the benefit of the doubt. She was angry (emotion four), but also crushingly depressed (emotion five).
Ningning was much the same. Somi apparently had dumped Aeri, but that just made Ningning feel worse. If Aeri was the dumpee, she clearly still liked Somi, which messed up everything Aeri had been making Ningning think.
At school, it wasn't much better: laughs, whispers, stares.
Karina had tried to text her, called her ten times, but Winter left them all on read. She deleted every voicemail.
Eventually, Karina stopped trying.
In class, Winter no longer raised her hand, no longer asked for help. She kept her head down and away from Karina.
The first girl Winter liked that anyone else considered desirable and look what happened.
It felt like she was breaking in two.
She cried herself to sleep two nights in a row.
Heeseung and his friends didn't even leave her alone. They walked past her, smirking and snickering, and Karina did nothing.
Why should she?
She didn't love Winter.
She didn't even like her.
She was a liar; she lied about being nice.
She lied about being just like Yooji.
She lied about everything.
Even worse; Winter hated how the girl stole her heart anyway.
