"Hey Alex. So, this is where you ran off too. We thought we'd never see you again." Wyatt light heartedly laughed. Stiffening at his voice I keep my back toward him.
"Do you guys think I'm a monster?" I quietly posited. Wyatt doesn't say anything for a while and with each passing minute I become more and more anxious waiting for his answer.
"None of us think you are a monster. You haven't done anything to give you that title." Wyatt said softly, his voice growing quieter with each word, "You have to understand that the color of your eyes has meant devastation and destruction to many of us. It will take time, but eventually I think everyone could come around to the idea of you being different." Wyatt lamely tried to comfort me. Looking at his sincere face I give him a small smile,
"Is different another word for freak?" I joked. Wyatt places his hand under his chin and considers my question.
"I don't think freak is the right word. I wouldn't describe you as a freak. Now the way Ty admires his muscles I'd say that's freakish behavior." Wyatt said with a seriousness that had me doubling over in laughter.
"I think I can agree with you on that one." I wheezed for air and held my sides. My lungs beg for relief from laughing. Suddenly Ty angrily yells from the house,
"Ah can hear the two of yah! One more word Wyatt and Ah'm gonna kick yah from here to Cancun." Ty throttly voice threatened from inside the house. Wyatt and I look at each other like children who had just got caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Before he winks at me playfully and we start laughing all over again. After a while our laughter dies down and Wyatt asks me to sit with him in the grass. Going deeper into the yard we push down a section of the grass and relax in the overgrown vegetation.
"Alex, how did you know the ghosted were gone?" Wyatt quietly questioned me while he stared awkwardly at the ground. His question caught me slightly off guard, but I can't blame him for being curious. Smiling softly at him,
"Because I can see them?" Wyatt looks at me like I'm a complete liar. Giggling at his accusatory face, "No I'm serious. With my other eyes you know the blue ones I can see... Um, how to explain it? Life forms maybe? Wow I've never had to explain this before. They shine like bright blue light bulbs. I can see humans as well." Wyatt's jaw dropped.
"No way!" He exclaimed. Giggling at his reaction again,
"Yes, but they shine differently."
"How so?" Wyatt questioned me.
"Well for starters they are white and not solid. More like bright silhouettes." Wyatt looks at me like I gave him a quick rundown of quantum physics. This boy is hopeless. Asking Wyatt if he has a pen and paper, he quickly nods his head and hands them over. Drawing a close replica of what I see I hand him the page and see an understanding fill his eyes.

"Wow, that's pretty cool." Wyatt exclaimed. Giggling at Wyatt's new fictional superwoman persona he's made me out to be.
"Yes, that's why I've been so good at not getting caught by Ravenna and how I tended to stay away from people like you." I laughed. Wyatt's eyes grow wide.
"Does that mean you stumbled upon us by accident?" Wyatt questioned me. Feeling awkward at this question.
"No, I saw you." I paused to take a deep breath. "From across the city. I saw where the ghosted were leading you. I knew it was only a matter of time before they cornered you. I saw how many children there were. I couldn't let Ravenna demolish their childhood too."
