Joshua stopped in his tracks, hiding behind the wall.
Maman always told him to stay upstairs when she was being a doctor, and was with a patient, but he never saw her going into her office with another person his age before. So, this was all new to him.He wondered if this girl was sad sometimes just like him. He knew it wasn't weird for seven year olds to see a doctor when they are sad, he goes to Celeste every Thursdays to talk about when he is sad. And Rowan, who is a bit older, had been going since she was his age.
Joshua didn't wait by the door the whole hour, in fact he got distracted by Super Why playing on the TV.
Maman's office door opening alerted him, he watched as the little girl walked out with her head hanging low. Maman was talking to the girl's own Maman, so he snuck over to her while the older ladies weren't paying attention.
"What's making you sad, girl?" Joshua asked bluntly. The girl looked up at him, a puzzled look on her face.
"My name is Sadie, not girl. And it's none of your business," Sadie replied, crossing her arms.
"Well, you were talking to my mommy, so it kinda is." Joshua mirrored her stance, crossing his own arms.
Before the girl could say anything else, her Maman placed her hand on her head. "Let's go, bubba." Sadie spared him one last glance, and turned to walk away.

Jo screeched as he stretched to relieve the tension from the uncomfortable position he slept in, and winced when he remembered Mateo was still out like a light beside him. He never could just wake up like a normal person.
"Shit! Sorry," Jo whispered, but of course got no response in return. Jo flicked a curl from Mateo's face, and carefully made his way out of the bed.
He noticed it was dark outside, so they definitely missed dinner, but he knew his friend needed that nap. Poor thing always freaks about small shit when he's left alone with his thoughts. He's glad that he could help relieve some of his tension by just hanging out with him.
"Mama!" Jo called out, scratching the back of his head. "Is there any food left?" He reached the kitchen, and was met with the sight of food in tupperware.
"Leave some for your sister," Mama replied in french. I'm not typing that out for you, use your imagination.
"Oh, yes, 'cause she always remembers me," Jo replied back in french, sarcastically. He walked over to the pile of tupperware, examining the contents inside. "Is there enough for Mo?"
"There should be, but save for your sister. I don't wanna hear her complaining later."
"Like that's not your job," Jo scoffed, getting smacked in the head as a result.
