Metro records was a daunting building, standing tall amongst a few other buildings. Nothing compared to the mere sight of this place, glass from top to bottom with a large 'Metro' sign at the very top of the building and doors. This place is home to many household names, along with some randoms like me they see potential in.

Sitting in the waiting room had me feeling unprepared, thinking maybe I was wrong to act out like I did, if it means my career is on the line I'd do just about anything to save it, no matter what it came down to.

"He's ready for you sweet heart." The receptionist beams as she extends her arm toward his door. I don't get how she could be so happy right now but she also wasn't in the position Im in.

I return a forced smile before quickly walking toward his office, opening the door before letting it it slowly fall closed. Turning around to see him facing toward his windows while standing.

"Come sit." He beckons as I quickly follow suit and sit in one of the luxurious chairs before him. His suit freshly pressed as the navy blue was illuminated from the sun cascading through the tall glass windows. He was an intimidating man, standing with broad shoulders and a tall frame. His hair salt and peppered from age, a small beard accompanying it.

He was a nice man though, with moments of kindness shining through every now and then. Like when he brought personalized gifts to my home after my song was #1 on the charts for a week, staying to have dinner and helping clean up after. Something I never thought I'd see from someone like him in this industry.

But he also was the one who discovered me.

Back home in Maggard we had a small mini mall with a food court. I spent most of my weekends performing there for tips to fund moving to Los Angeles, with it being a small town word spread quick. Before I knew it I was performing for over 300 people a night, nearly the whole town crammed into the space just to hear me sing. Apparently someone from Maggard was related to someone who worked with music, lucky for me this person knew Mr. Reeves.

That next weekend he booked a flight then drove three hours just to hear me sing. I did as I usually did every weekend, paying off in the end as he approached me after I finished with a deal.

Few weeks later my whole family was in LA ready to start this new chapter in our lives. I didn't even look back since every thing I loved from Kentucky came here with me.

He slowly turns around with a stern look on his face, walking to his chair and pulling it out before plopping down. Leaning back and crossing a leg while putting his hands together.

"Congratulations on your win." He gives a small smile as he swivels in the chair. The thing I can do is smile back nervously, "Yea it was great." I said hushed and quickly. My heart had a twinge of guilt for my actions, thinking if I had just kept my composure none of this would be happening right now.

"Obviously things went a little, off script there at the end." He cocks a brow up as his lips enter a frowned look.

I nod back looking down at my lap, embarrassed of what took place. It's not as if Im proud of acting out like I did, not being able to hold myself together. It's beyond defeating.

"I'm sorry that happened, but then you just blew up like a firecracker. Guess that's the country girl in you peeking through." He chuckles, his large shoulders barely moving before going still again.

A wave of relief washed over me feeling the tension leaving the room, somewhat easing the nerves I had. My shoulders easing as they started to slouch, and I crossed my legs comfortably.
