Fragrant Symphonies | Law x reader

Chapter I

It was only a couple of weeks left until the start of freshman year of high school. The future students of Grand Line High were buzzing with excitement and anticipation of what was to come of their high school experience. 

Before summer vacation ended, there was a music festival coming to town that residents could enter for fun to show off their musical talents. There would also be professional performances, food, and games. The Straw Hat crew (as Luffy liked to call it) were excited for the festival.

"I wonder who's going to be there this year!" Nami said, already thinking of all the possible outfits she could wear.

"Maybe we should perform at the festival eh! What do you say Zoro, would you do it with me!" Luffy said to an unamused Zoro who was just there for the free food that Robin and Franky were paying for. While the rest of the Straw Hats were talking about the festival, Sanji overheard from another table in the restaurant of a new girl coming into town, about the same year as most of the friend group.

"Hey guys, you heard the same thing I did right?" Sanji asked while everyone stared at him with a mind-empty look. "The new girl...?" Still no response. "Ok...anyway they were talking about someone moving here who is around the same age as most of us." He was referring to himself, Zoro, Luffy, Nami, Usopp, and he guesses Chopper. Even though Chopper was significantly younger than the rest of them, he was going into the same year as them due to his intelligence and skipping grades. 

"OOO A NEW FRIEND!" Luffy jumps in excitement at the idea of adding a new addition to the friend group. They finished up at the restaurant and went their separate ways for the time being. In the shop across the street, two friend groups were trying their hardest to coexist with each other but it was proving to be very difficult when two boys just couldn't get along. 

"I was in the shop first so I think it's only fair that you guys leave so we can have some fun," the red-haired boy said, shoving the boy in the spotted hat next to him.

"You think just because you got here first means you own the place?" the boy chuckled. "That's some good shit Kid-ya, call me back when you actually have an answer for your stupidity." At this point, the brute was fuming while staring daggers into the spotted hat kid.

"Well, I got one for you Law! Get the fuck away from me and find some other place to shop." Law was about to fight back when his friend Bepo reasoned with him for them to just go someplace else. With a heavy sigh, the Heart crew left. For the most part, it was silent among the group, enjoying their last few weeks of freedom when a squeal was heard coming from the back of the group.

"No way! You for real Penguin?" Shachi looked like he was going to explode with how happy he was.

"Yes dude! A newcomer is coming to our town! I wonder what she'll be like." This got the whole group's attention, hearing that it was also a girl around their age. Law didn't care, he just wanted to relax and pray he wouldn't run into Kid again.

It was the next day and the first of the music festival. Everyone who was anyone was at the festival, ready for its first set of performers and games. The Straw Hat crew stumbled upon the first stage set for the local performers. "Yeesh. I would hate to be first. That must be nerve-racking," Chopper said looking up at the stage.

"Yeah, I wouldn't be able to do it either. Got a severe case of I-can't-and-will-not-go-first disease," Usopp said while shaking. Robin looked at the lit-up board next to the stage that said when the first performance was. It said the first performer was supposed to play at 1:30 p.m. and it was currently 1:00. Robin told Luffy about this and he decided they should set up a place to watch. Other ways away, the Heart crew saw the crowd of people start to surround the stage where the Straw Hats were. 

"Come on Law! We should see this performance. I think it's going to be a good one!" Bepo said, trying to convince Law, and eventually he gave in and the group found a spot kind of close to the stage. They could see Kid's friend group but no Kid. It was a strange sight to see but Law paid no more attention to the scene as they were not his problem. 30 minutes had gone by and soon the crowd had more than doubled in size. Law guessed people were just getting high from the excitement of the festival and not the anticipation of the performer. Someone had walked onto the stage and announced the performer's name but with the crowd yelling, he couldn't catch it. He heard a guitar and a banjo playing a rock and roll country twist. A girl walked onto the stage with the banjo that was heard before. She started singing the first couple of lyrics to the song and Law had to admit, they were kind of catchy. Singing about exes really gets you in the country/rock and roll mood. The (h/c) colored performer then got to the bridge of the song where she stopped playing and pointed to the side of the stage. Law would have never guessed who would've been the person playing the guitar. Kid stepped out right on time for the instrumental break, playing along with the banjo girl. The guitar banjo duet came to a close and the girl addressed the screaming crowd.

"Thank you! That was 'Picture to Burn' written by me! I'm so glad you all enjoyed it." The girl seemed to be booming with pride at how the crowd took her song. "In case you missed it, I'm (Y/N) (L/N) and my guitarist is Eustass Kid! This next song is called 'Our Song'" The next song started to play with a more country approach that soon turned into the same tune of the previous song. Even Kid sang along to some of the words. It was another smash hit with the crowd and (Y/N) couldn't be happier. She sang a couple of more songs before it was her time to exit the stage. She thanked the crowd for the supporting screams and told them she would be around the festival all day.

"Law! We've got to meet this girl! I'm so sure she's the newcomer that we talked about yesterday!" Shachi dragged Law and the rest of the gang over to where the performer was supposedly. It turned out they weren't the only ones with the idea of meeting her. The Straw Hat crew was already introducing themselves to the excited girl. Kid's group stayed behind while she met everyone. Shachi introduced everyone in the group after the Straw Hat's introductions. "And this is Law! He's kind of like our boss of the group but he doesn't bite!" Law glared at the ginger before properly introducing himself, sticking his hand out for good measure.

"It's a pleasure to meet you all! I'm so excited to see you guys around town and school when I officially move in!" (Y/N) said. Looks like that confirmed everyone's suspicion of her being the newcomer. She promised she would hang out with everyone during the duration of the festival so she could get to know them personally before the school year started. Law stared at her for another couple of seconds before being called back to the group to go check out some of the other festivities. Maybe this year won't be so dull after all Law thought to himself, still remembering the riveting performance the girl gave.

First chapter done! The songs played in this chapter were "Picture to Burn" and "Our Song" both owned by Taylor Swift. Chapters will get longer but as of now they are a bit short. Next one should be out two days from now!
