Part 24: Gaslighting

It's currently lunchtime and after the amazing news for Class-D this morning. I and Horikita have made the decision to deliberate on the subsequent course of action. 

"Ayanokouji-kun, before we begin, do you know where Yomogi-Kun went to?" She asked me

"Typically, informs me of his whereabouts, but today he did not. My speculation leads me to believe that he is probably in the company of Nishikawa." I said, sounding slightly unsure

Horikita flinched after hearing me saying that... is this the thing that's called jealousy, wow didn't expect this one from her. Without much thinking, my mouth just said something while my brain is off.

"Horikita...could it be that you're jealous...?" I asked bluntly

After realizing what I said, I mentally slapped myself.  Ahh, I should start making my will for my family....wait I don't even have a family haha. I looked at Horikita waiting for her reaction.

"Hah? Did Yomogi-Kun smacked that empty brain of yours." After saying that, she sighed while glaring at me

"Uhhhh, please don't stab me. Thank you." I said covering my arms

"Don't you realize, that Yomogi-kun is dating a Class-A girl?" she asked me, looking at me as if I was trash

I see so it was because of Nishikawa being from Class-A, I thought for a second that she liked Yomogi. Now what should I say here.

"I see where you're getting at, Horikita, but in my opinion. If you look at the both of them, Yomogi he mostly doesn't care about climbing the ranks... I think, while Nishikawa, she's also more of a passive player in Class-A." I said calmly 

"Theoretically, you're probably correct. Have you never thought of a what if situation?" She said

"Of course, I have thought of multiple possible things that could happen. But that's the problem Horikita, you need to realize not everyone is like you. The way you're thinking, right now, is only for your own desire. You may feel it's also for the class, but at the end of the day, you yourself would do anything possible to get to Class-A." I said while looking through her eyes

"What's wrong with trying to get to Class-A, what Yomogi-kun's doing right now is unfair and selfish." She said while glaring at me

In her eyes, I probably look like I'm trying to defend Yomogi, is that really what I'm trying to do? I myself don't know, is it because of Yomogi is my 'friend' or is it something else...

"Horikita, answer this question. If you have a ticket to go to Class-A, but leaving everyone from Class-D behind. Would you take it?" I asked

"What kind of question is that, of course I would." She answered simply

"Isn't your answer also selfish? Do you see yourself Horikita, the only reason you can't accept Yomogi being with someone from Class-A is because you're scared. In your eyes the way you see him is as one of your tickets to go to Class-A, you feel that if you lose him your chances would go down. Do you see it now?" I said while slowly getting up from my seat

I got up from my seat and I looked at her slowly, her eyes got wider.

"You don't care about who Yomogi likes or date, what you care is about the product himself. The ways that he could be useful to you in the future to get to Class-A. Think about all of his capabilities and the way you could use him..." I said while looking down at her

Right now, at this moment of time, I couldn't see what her face looks like because she's looking down. But that doesn't matter, this amount is enough, slowly she will realize it herself.
