"Do you think Daddy's mad at him?"
Theodora Sommers has never liked hospitals or anything regarding that realm of life. I mean, she doesn't understand what there could be to like? Sure, lives are saved here—but more often than not, they are not saved. There is death in every crevice no matter how clean the building may be scrubbed, it lingers. She simply just does not like the way her insides feel when she's within these sterile walls.
The smell also gives her a headache.
But, her father asked for his children to accompany him in seeing his father in his hospice. So, here Theo is—how dare she say no. Daddy, I'm uncomfortable. Please. I have to stay home. Please, don't put me in another uncomfortable situation.
"At who?" Theodora whispers to her sister, she feels the need to whisper in these halls.
Talia Sommers picks at the edge of her sleeve, she's wearing an off the shoulder waffle knit long sleeve. It smells all floral. "Tyler." She mumbles his name like it's obvious, in a way, it is.
Tyler Sommers is not here. He hadn't come home last night. Rich's text sent to him went unanswered. Talia's text (warning) to him went unanswered. Theo knew better than to text him. She's sure he's okay, even if she doesn't know where he is—that's just the kind of person Tyler is. She is positive he's the smartest out of their bunch—he's also seeing a dark haired girl two streets down. Theo won't tell anyone about that. She swore to secrecy, (not really, her brother is too old for pinky promises—but Theo swore to never utter that secret to anyone in her head.)
Sandra and Stevie walk some way ahead of the twins, and ahead of them is Rich. He's on the phone with a business partner. While he's not talking loud, it feels loud in this rather silent hall. It feels disrespectful. But no one would be able to tell him that, he's Rich Sommers.
As him and his daughter's reach the door that his father lays behind, Rich waves them in before him.
Sandra cracks open the door and practically shoves Stevie to go in first—none of them particularly like visiting. It's all quite eerie. But bless their grandfather, he was always kind to them. So, some sacrifices can be made for the dying man. Plus, he doesn't even remember them all that well anymore. Rich claims he just likes the comfort of other people, who don't wear scrubs. Even if they're strangers to him.
Talia walks in after the two, and Theo looks back at her father. Her fingers fiddle with each other as she watches him pace a short length. When his back turns from facing away from her to face her full on, his pacing pauses. He seems to stop listening to whoever's on the phone for a split second. He sends his favorite daughter a soft smile, it makes a chill race down her spine. She sends back a small smile, it looks uncomfortable. Rich can see this, despite how hard she's trying to hide it. She doesn't like to show weakness in front of him—however that may be.
